Recently at the SYD DOM J Lounge I witnessed a lady attempting to use a first class lounge invite to gain access - bluntly (but correctly) told that it was only valid at the F lounge and turned away.

Good practice by Qantas? I would have thought that if someone wanted to "waste" the pass on a lower lounge it would be in the interest of Qantas to allow it? This was in the middle of the day in a very empty lounge.

I did note that she was very promptly guested in - I don't know if she offered the invite as a trade - or someone was just being generous. If I wasn't talking to the second agent - I would have offered her a guest spot in exchange for the pass.

Thoughts? I understand that she may never have had the opportunity to use it internationally - but I'm sure through a network of friends/family/workmates etc - it most likely would have been "cashed in" at the F lounge somehow.

I think it's easy to forget that there's a whole world of people out there who don't care nearly as much as we do!

Nice that someone guested her in though...

I wonder if the J lounge doorman would have to justify why someone was allowed in without a valid pass or status?

Probably a QF rule that staff cannot over ride.

Sounds to me like the lady simple didn't realise there are different levels of lounge.

Hopefully the person who guested her in explained it to her, I'd hate to think she ended up just throwing the F pass into a bin.

I would have thought that lounge staff could have been a little more accommodating. Yes, I know they do not have to.

Not sure they would have needed to justify it to anyone other than themselves. It is not as if someone is sitting there counting people entering the lounge and how they got there.
