I agree. Mrs Paddy and I had 4 flights (SYD-HKG-LHR vv) a couple of years ago and slept like babies in our coffins.
Upstairs on a 744 they become a 6'6" long, flat bed.

Having said that, can't wait to try new Bus Class! :mrgreen:

Other airlines are more likely to get it right first go.

I've flown teh coffin style many times. Mostly o/n and slept as well as I ever have on a plance (I'm almost 6' and not slim.) A couple of times I've been on a day flight and it gets pretty cramped if you want a laptop going and some paperwork at the same time. Haven't yet sampled the new config, but it looks great.

Yes it's a narrow and a more generous framed person may feel a bit cramped, but in think it looks more cramp than actual. Plus love the privacy feeling as a solo traveler.

I had a great sleep, and I recently experienced the QF skyslopes sky bed last week, give me CX coffin any day.

Agree with that!

However, they are not good when traveling as a couple & outright hopeless for family trips with younger ones. But I love CX - you can re-deem multiply award seats in J almost any day of the week

Yeah award j tickets are great on cx syd-hkg vv. However I think they only release them approx 2 months out? Is this correct?

Might even be less than that. I normally book them at very short notice - after I've finally thrown the towel in looking for seats on QF or cracked the xxits with being directed to JQ!

I'm one of the silly ones that has accumulated all points with one carrier. QF all the way - I'm afraid. However, since joining AFF I've beginning to see the error of my ways!

BA is another that provide easy pickings - have re-deemed many flights in J and a few in F flying to BKK.....now thats gone it's SIN:mrgreen:

I see. Haven't tried BA myself. I mainly just collect points via amex mr and westpac altitude. When I'm ready I transfer.

If I had not been upgraded to the new config, I was going to ask at the gate to be moved to Economy as it's more comfortable than 'coffin class' for anyone over 5'11" and anyone wider than the average asian business man. I'm a tall big guy, there's no way I was going to do 9 hours in that seat. The u/s gods shined on me though and I got very lucky!

Wow, that's a bit extreme. I'm 5'10" and I have no issue with it. I would have thought a tall person would have had more issue with the awful fixed shell economy product. What makes it so uncomfortable for you, is it that you can't fit your entire length when it's in lie flat mode? Still can't see how economy would be better.

Sorry to drag out this old thread but I can't find the information anywhere on CX's website...

Do we know which flights now have the new business class setup? If I look under "fleet" on their website, it looks as if almost all 330 and 777 now have it but I can't really believe their upgrade went that fast... Any recent experiences? I am mostly interested in SYD-HKG and HKG-LHR. Thanks!

I think you'll find that, subject to last minute changes, all HKG-Australia flights are the new config. If you have access to expertflyer.com or even if you can use the CX website to choose your seat, the new config is 1-2-1 whereas the old is 1-1-1 (at least as far as the A330 is concerned).
