Hi, it's my first time booking AA domestic flights in anything other than Y, just wanted to confirm how I think QFF Points and SCs should post :)

If I book flights LGA-DFW-LAX with fare First Special (Booking code P), will points and SCs be posted to QFF under First class? MileageMonkey is telling me 120SC for each leg, total of 240SC. Does it make a difference if both legs are on the same flight number (AA745 in this case).

I'm still a bit surprised how cheap these AA fares are compared to domestic QF J

Welcome to AFF.

This month I have been to TPA via DFW twice and also to ONT in P class.

Crediting is very good.

I even know of people who use airlines other than QF to get to USA and then launch into P class flights left right and centre over USA to maintain Qf Plat!

I suspect that you will get the SC/points as though it was a non-stop flight from initial departure point to final arrival. So you have to look at the mile distance for that, even though you physically fly further.

AA crediting is a per flight number basis. If you book JFK-LAX And it goes via DFW you'll get SCs as of it was a direct flight. P will credit as First to qff. The only way to get 240 is if you have two separate flight numbers.

Excellent, thanks for the clarification :) Just booked the trip with different flight numbers for the 2 legs. Was slightly more expensive but worth it!

Am I missing something about booking AA fares.

Looking at LAX - MIA return and the cheapest fare is $360 return (dec/jan) No SC's or points

while the P class fare (instant upgrade) is around $1650.

Is there a cheaper way to get 1st Class fare??

You need to pick your destination.

Do you have to depart from LAX? If not check nearby ports such as ONT, SAN. Or MCI/FLL rather than MIA.

The cheaper first class fares are bsically marketing and can come and go.
