Cathay Marco Polo Gold with Plat Charge - Free Rollover / Renewal?

Has anyone been had a renewal of their Marco Polo Gold status with Cathay (obtained through Amex Plat Charge) without flying the necessary sectors/miles? I.e. free rollover or renewal?

Nope, not here (UK issued AMEX Plat Charge). There have been reports that some Centurion members have been, but I'm not aware of any Plat members.

I'm hoping the AUS Plat Charge does! That will ease the $900 fee

The Centurion card gives you that but I'm waiting to see if it continues next year or if it was a once off

I asked Amex that question a month or two ago and was told the MP Gold status was for 12 months only - after that point in time you need to fly the necessary sectors / miles to retain it.

Then I will try and delay my MPC gold application as late as possible... I think you need to submit by 15 Feb 2013 to be eligible according to the form..

Does anyone know what happens when you don't requalify for Gold - do you drop down to Silver or down to Green?

What if you download the form from amex again and send in. Do they renew your status?

Well, I certainly intend to find out soon enough, I think.

I'm travelling with wife and child in just over a week on QF Y class to Bangkok. My MP card shows Aug 12 expiry. I will be testing entry to Qantas Club Lounge at Sydney Airport. I'm keen to see what happens.

But when you log into MPC, it shows the rollover date correct? I guess if they questioned you, ask them to login via the web Maybe also give MPC a call to ask them if they are sending out a new card for you

A little off topic but... The Amex site still states you can access the Qantas First Lounge in Sydney with this membership. Has anyone tried this?

Ditto. I wouldn't be confident until the new Gold card arrives with an Aug 2013 expiry (hoping, hoping)...
