Hi all!
My brother and I are heading to Europe for 3 weeks in July. I've just finished booking all our transport (finally..phew). Trains and planes are a go! I've also booked hotels in Frankfurt, Paris, Brussels and London. Which leaves Berlin and Rome...Berlin is easy enough for me to figure out. Rome on the other hand...well it's got me really confused. It certainly seems like a very expensive city to stay in.
Having a 3 year age gap between us has its benefits - particularly when our 18th and 21st birthdays fall in the same year...if you get my drift
. If you don't...well, Dad is picking up the tab for some things - one of them being hotels. I've found some excellent deals, and managed to average around $140AU per night, about half with breakfast - 4.5* or above. Berlin will come in at or below that. I know that we are very unlikely to get anywhere close to the average for a decent place in Rome - considering how low I've kept every other cost through the tricks I've learned here and on FT, splurging a bit shouldn't be an issue.
We will be checking in 13 July, checking out 16 July. I have found Suite Dreams - Accoglienti e moderne Suite nel centro di Roma which seems like a decent enough option - but I am not too sure on where it is located in the city, i.e. if it is a dodgy area or not. EUR390 for 3 nights.
The real high class establishments seem very pricey, however I admit the Waldorf caught my eye, as I am gold in hhonors. I understand this is a fair way out of the city as well, but it does look like an amazing property. Looking at about EUR600 if that is the option we take, which is still a fair bit cheaper than other higher-end options in Rome such as the IC.
Any advice...please throw it my way! As always I am greatly appreciative!
