UPS took delivery of their 50th 767 freighter overnight!

Not sure how one delivery classifies as "stong"

The backlog of 767 orders is less than the 747.......

Considering there has not been any new variants for some time unlike the 747 yet in the last 6 years orders for the 767 have exceeded the 747, thats pretty strong given the 300ER is a 25 year old design. The delivery is significant because its the 50th new one for UPS, not just a single delivery of an aircraft when the year has already seen 9 find new homes.

Between LAN and UPS they seem to keep lowing at a slow trickle.

My understanding is this it to try and keep the line going until the line ramps up for the USAF tankers based on the 763.

Interesting also the 763 is the preferred, not the 764 which is newer.

It also shows that there is merit in a new 763 that can be had rapidly, vs the eternal wait for a 788/789 and the slightly less than eternal wait for new build 332/333s.

LAN and UPS are old orders, they have yet to start building Fedex and the order book is still steady:

If the 787 wasn't delayed most of those small orders would not be there... Compensation........

LOL, DHL, Fedex & UPS will be waiting a long while for non existant 787, not to mention Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan customers whose 767s were ordered before any 787 order while Air Astanas order is for both 787 and 767 at the same time, so no compo needed while Miat have only every had one widebody on order, a 767!

There is a new LAN order from late 2011.

The 763 seems to work really well for LAN and fills the gap until their 788s arrive. LAN also have an extensive cargo operation so presumably they are also being bought with a view to turn some into freighters in the long term. (They also have some 777Fs).

I am sure they probably got some compo although they were lucky to get slot upgrades as well which would negate much of the compo, considering the orders outstanding are 10% of the entire 763 production, clearly its an oldie but a goodie design, I know one pilot that would agree!

I agree - new 763s (or 764s) would have been ideal for QF/VA on the east coast runs, and we might have seen them 4 years ago (unlike the 788/789s).
