Have Virgin dropped the price of their J fares permanently or is this just a sale?

Just noticed Virgin have some seriously good domestic J airfares:

Syd-Mel - $299
Syd-Perth - $945

Seems to be a reduction on all routes (except Syd-Gold Coast)

Does anyone know if these are sale fares or are Virgin really now seeking to be competitive?

At a guess, it's matching the QF sale that is on at the moment (or at least their 2 for 1 offer, and you don't need to buy for two).

Virgin have been competitive with their J fares since they introduced the product (they have a way to go as far as the product goes).

Its clearly a match for the QF sale as fares have not dropped outside of the sale windows, and as you note Gold Coast has not changed which is not surprising.

Is there any notice saying it's a temporary sale fare, and if so when does it end? As a status run (esp with the double SC promo) these are tempting, especially as I'm trying to get down to MEL for work in mid June..!
Might see if I can push the travel authority through a bit earlier, and offer to fund the flights on my own coin! (Our policy is Y only on flights under 5hrs)

I know I said (lots of times) that I wasn't going to fly Virgin as much..

But with J fares at those prices, it's really hard to say no

You get what you pay for, right? so I assume all future complaints will be entirely proportionate?

I fly quite a bit of VA J class these days...due to the company deciding to use their AMEX points to book flights...

I must say the VA J product is fantastic and better than QF J in many respects- priority boarding that's efficient/effective; seats; etc....soft touches like stopping Y pax from making a bull rush as soon as the seatbelt light is extinguished.

Well, I'd better get in before the sale(s) end. Wasn't going to renew silver, but this (along with the double SC offer) has made it economically feasible for me :).
