I recently travelled on BA from LHR->HKG in BA's NEW first class. Boy are BA a long way behind their competitors. The seats are early 2000's style, the food has no flair or interest, the entertainment system is out of the 1950's - I really pitied the poor guys that had to deliver this awful product. I flew to the UK on QF on an A380. The service from MEL->SIN was pretty average - typical QF crew who don't listen to what you ask - but the crew SIN-> LHR were really good. The plane was late due to mechanical problem on a 1 month old A380!!! Seems like QF have heaps of problems with any plane with an A in front of it. But the seats are great, the food interesting and the entertainment system worked!!! SQ still have the best first seats - QF and CX are about the same. SQ and CX have the most consistent service but the QF food is far more interesting - even though SQ and CX serve Dom Perignon and caviar!!! Over to you...

For the record, the title of the thread has been changed to First from fist.

One some levels the answer to BOTH questions is Qantas... A380 looks stunning F class - 744 not so much.

Assuming we're talking long haul, QF in an A380 is tops, and AA.... is not!

Thanksgiving Day lunch on Intl config 777 was a Cheeseburger! WTF

QF A380 F Degustation, with matching wines - damn good!

(Have CX F on my list of things to do next year. Alas SQ F is a distant and fond memory!)

To me the answer to the question 'which is best' really depends on who I'm flying with at the time.

Flying solo I love CX's 777 suites, the food is brilliant and they still serve Krug which is my favourite bubbly at the moment.

When travelling with my wife (with daughter at home) EK's A380 is the best - the adjoining seats in the centre of the cabin mean you can be completely isolated from the rest of the aircraft but still sit side-by-side. The on-board shower is a nice touch too.

Flying with my daughter (now 2) I love QF's A380 - I've found QF staff to be the most welcoming to the presence of a young person, and there's always the option of heading up to the J lounge upstairs to have a bit of a change of scenery. The seats are big enough for 2 adults and a toddler to sit together and eat dinner (with toddler sharing the 'big chair').

Flying in a group BA's New First on the 744 is great - very easy to chat and socialise when you've got a group of 6+ flying together with the proximity of the seats across Row 4. I really like the New F hard product for the flights when you don't want to be completely isolated from the rest of the cabin, though I do concede that the food & beverage offering isn't on the same level as QF/CX/EK.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I've done BA NF and enjoyed it. Nothing wrong with it......since it's on a 747 it wins extra bonus points! Pure class sitting in row 1 on a 747:cool:
