I am a DJ Gold member with anytime access to the Virgin Lounge, but am flying QF451 SYD-MEL at 5.15pm this Sunday with my 11-year-old daughter.
I am planning on utilising the anytime access at the Lounge in terminal 2 and was wondering what time should I leave the Lounge in order to get to the gate in termianl 3 on time to catch my QF flight?
We will only have hand luggage and will have checked in online beforehand and I will have my iPad with me to check if there are any delays etc.
Can I use premium curbside entry at the Lounge in SYD if I am not travelling DJ?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Sorry, it's been ages since I have been in SYD terminal 3.

I'd say 10 minutes should be plenty, leave at about 4:45. You can exit via the premium entry, there is a side door. Down the ramp, take the crossing go through the car park and your pretty much there.

It takes about 10 minutes, I usually use the tunnel between the two terminals which also connects to the train station. Give yourself enough time to clear security at T3

+1

10 mins will be enough time.

I would wonder over at app 4.45 just to allow for any unexpected delays.

They will probably start boarding at app 5.00

I'll mostly agree with the others. 10-15 mins. I usually use the tunnel, but the overland option is also ok.

I would probably leave about 45 mins before the flight - not 30 like others are recommending. Better to be safe than sorry (esp. when Qantas is in one of those "get that plane out of here ASAP" moods).

Thanks for the advice everyone. Here I was thinking it would take much longer, and that we should just go straight to terminal 3, but will use the Lounge access and allow 20 minutes. Thanks again.

I'm with Mal - note that in the normal scheme of things the aircraft will commence boarding after 4:50pm.

Remember you still have to pass though security x-ray etc.

I would be considering departing 4:30pm-4:35pm and certainly no later.

I agree with Mal & serfty.

$:30 is a good time to leave the lounge. It gives you a couple of spare minutes incase you get ANY delays.

4.30pm it is. Thanks once again for the help.
Just hope I can actually print out my BPs beforehand from my sister's place. Otherwise that opens up a whole new can of worms, but if we can't then as long as we get to a check-in kiosk before 4.45pm, then we should be OK.

You should be able to do OLCI in the DJ lounge and print a BP from there, if all else fails.

I guess more time makes sense if using the tunnel as it is a longer walk. As you said you'd monitor the flight information, I guess my suggestion of 10 minutes meant 10 minutes before the posted boarding time. Rather than 10 minutes before the expected boarding time of 4:55, I should have been more clear.

Even if your sister doesn't have a printer you can check yourselves in online at her place then on arrival at T3 go directly to your boarding gate & ask the gate agent if they can reprint your boarding passes os you did OLCI but couldn't print them out at home.

lf you happen to be going past a kiosk on the way to security at T3 by all means scan your itinerary or insert your QF ff bronze card into the SSK & it will retrieve your booking & next to both of your names say "already checked in". Click 'select all' & continue & the next screen will give your the options of what you want to do next. Select the first options "print boarding pass" & it will reprint two boarding passes.

Do have FF cards? If so then you don't need to print BPs and can scan your cards at the gate.

I have one. My daughter doesn't. Sister has a printer at home anyway, so all sweet. WIll do OLCI and print them out and then enjoy free Cascade Pale Ales in the Lounge.

I am assuming your daughter has a FF number though???

Nope. She has a Virgin card, but not Qantas. We usually fly Virgin, but the price and timing ofthe Qantas flight was better, so i chose it. Quite looking forward to taking her on her first widebody jet experience.

Thanks everyone for their help on this.
For the record, it took 15 minutes to get from the Lounge to gate 11 in terminal 3 and that included the obligatory explosive screening (i always get this) and a quick stop at krispy kreme.

Make sure you get your daughter a EDR card and QFF card. I would hate her losing QF points.

Sorry for the bump, but i did want to share what a wonderful experience it was in taking Miss 11 on here first widebidy jet experience.
The QF 767 is just a wonderful aircraft to fly on. Yes it's old, but it really does offer a unique flying experience. My daughter, used to only the 737 or the E190, was spellbound by the enormity of the aircaft. Upon boarding, she remarked "It's huuuuuuuuuge".
She couldn't believe the size of the wings.
I shudder to think what she would think of the A380!

I love the 767s as well but it would appear that QF have less and less scheduled for SYD-BNE flights. :(

And just for some useless information I have managed to visit all 3 Qantas lounges in SYD T3 and T2 in ~20 minutes....
