Woe is me - just confirmed my booking to the UK in the first week of July and plumped for QF as everyone else was...

This is the A380 flight so I happily checked on line to pick my favoured 12E seat and found the entire Emerald City booked out - I am way back in row 17! It is almost like I am in economy!

Genuinely quite surprised that all seats are gone...

And yes #firstworldproblem

Ooh - I was not aware of the seat alerts - just the fare basis. Might look into it.

PF - I would love to upgrade but I can't afford the points with an impending three person J trip on points to the UK next year :(

I booked a flight to LHR on the A380 as soon as seats were released for 4th July. But in PE. Got the choice 37 row window though. Guess that means we wont be getting upgraded to Business.

380? Choice 37 row window?

Don't you mean 38?

...I think you have had the misfortune to book when the WP1 club is meeting in London!

Maybe there'll be some 7 day ÜW upgrades at T-7days ... in any case prob. flex fares for some, so a seat alert for 11/12/13-E/F can't hurt.

Seat alert set up for a range of seats in Emerald City.

At least it isn't as bad a firstworldproblem as I had last night when I could only find vintage champagne in the house - I seemed to have lost the NV...

I later found that it was hidden under some boxes - four bottles worth... Planned to be put in the chiller tonight for tomorrow :D

I also use it to keep an eye on my allocated seat when I have requested an upgrade ...

Serfty

This is an old thread but I failed to understand why you would like to keep an eye on your allocated seat using Seat Alert.

On your preferred seat(s), yes I could understand that.

What would happen to your allocated seat - under what circumstances ?

QF would re-allocate it at the last min before your requested upgrade is confirmed and you would then fall through the gap ?

I wish to learn how you use Seat Alert here.

I would assume that is to be notified of the upgrade clearing. When upgraded they'll move you to a new seat and your original seat will open up. E/F doesn't know it's your seat, just that it's open.

Or an equipment change that results in seat reallocations.

Interesting - never thought of doing that. I rely on the MyFlights App. The downside to that is if you move from a 767 in 23B to a 738 in 23B you don't get a seat change...
