Hi,

I have booked a fare (partner, and daughter - full fare) through a TA, via one of the 'travel expos' with V-Australia: SYD-LAX, LAX- JFK, MCO-LAX, LAX - SYD both the internal flights are with Delta. I could not pre-select any seats with the fare, spoke to V Australia and confirmed this.

I note that we only have the option for airport check-in with Virgin Australia international flights. How long before our flight will the check-in open? Our flight is at 1pm. Will they check us in at Sydney for our connecting Delta flights?

Thanks for your help.

Hi has anyone had any experience in checking in for the DJ (pacific blue I think) flights to Fiji ex aus and also ex fiji to return home?

Are these also checkin opens 3 hours before and closes 1 hour before?

I have a similar question...
Does DJ check-in at AKL (to SYD) also open 3 hours before flight? (we have to drop off a rental car and will have a few hours to kill in the lounge)

FYI for your return flight to Australia - we flew back from LAX to Sydney on VA2 in early December - the flight did not depart until almost 9pm, however V Australia check-in desks actually opened at 2.30pm (thank goodness for that, as we had arrived on a lunchtime domestic US flight, so we didn't have too long to wait until we could check in and get rid of our luggage!)

The current info on the Virgin website (under Airport Guides) states that the LAX check-in desks open at 3.30pm.

Thanks for this info about the check in desk. When we travelled in 2010 we were able to check our luggage in at Orlando through to SYD (flying via Newark); I had assumed we would be able to do the same on this trip. We have about 10 hours to spend at LAX, I thought we would be able to go into LA - but if we have our luggage this won't be possible.

I wasn't sure if you were stopping over in LA before flying back to Sydney, hence the info re check-in, but yes, if all flights are on the same booking and you are just transiting through LAX, then you should be able to book your luggage through to Sydney from Orlando. Makes it a lot easier than having to lug your bags around yet another airport!!

Fantastic, thanks for this .... now to work out our plans for a day in LA (with our carry-on luggage).

The reason I am asking is that what was Pacific Blue operates a bit differently from VA's full service flights to Los Angeles etc. I would like others' experiences not what is published on websites.

Eg this is what website says (a bit of a non sense as you can't check in after flight has left and flies in the face of the 3 hours up to 1 hour before rule)

Yes, the 90min check-in opening has had me stumped for a while!
