It's Apple, I wouldn't expect anything and be pleasantly surprised when it comes.

There's a publishing related announcement, and very likely an iPad related announcement, over the next couple of months. AFAIK it's reliant on whenever Yelp get their stuff together down here as it relies on them, not Google.

Slightly off-topic, but if you're looking for voice control for maps (plus turn-by-turn navigation) Google's Android voice control and maps are brilliant. I've had a Google/Samsung Nexus S for close to a year now and found it to be amazing.

My understanding is it's whenever the people that make Siri add compatibility for Australia, AFAIK Yelp is just for restaurants. I'm not entirley sure to be honest.

I've heard talk of it being Jan-March 2012. But with Apple, nobody really knows.

The people that make Siri are Apple - Apple bought Siri.
Yelp is for every business - they use Sensis/Yellow Pages as their main location data source.

Yelp wasn't available here when iPhone 4S shipped but it has since launched in Oz so there may no longer be a content barrier to enhancing our version of Siri. If it's going to happen, it might be with the iOS 5.1 update which reportedly includes Siri enhancements. As for timing on that...

I thought this as well. Any time frame for the release of iOS 5.1? Cheers, Homer.

There are 5.1 betas out there under testing, but as for actual release. Well, it could be tomorrow, it could be next week or maybe even next month. Then, maybe some other time completely. Who knows with Apple.

When I was just in the US, Siri still wouldn't give me business info, I'm guessing it's because my iPhone was bought in OZ...I even said Siri "i am in America!" didn't help :p

I got my iPhone 4 specifically because I wanted an iPod touch but didn't want to carry two devices or pay for it. It was a bargain since I got the iPhone 4 on a regular upgrade on a phone plan I was going to use anyways.

It needs to be on the US voice, not the Australian voice, did you make sure you switched?
