As some of the longer term members might remember, just over 4 years ago I posted a thread about a colleague (NB at the time) receiving an op-up during OLCI. At the time, it seemed it was almost unheard-of.

Well, 4 years later, it happened to me - MEL-SYD. :)

I selected my usual 23B at about 48hrs out, then went back the next night to check in (about 20 hours out). During check-in I noticed I was allocated a seat in row 2. I went to seat selection to see what else was available, but strangely could only choose from the Y cabin (needless to say I cancelled seat selection and kept my seat in row 2!)

I loaded up the PDF boarding pass, and sure enough - there was the seat in row 2, with the class listed as "Business". :D

I printed it (first time ever since NGCI - I wanted evidence ;)), boarded without any issues and enjoyed a very comfortable flight home.

23B wasn't a bassinet seat, and the bloke sitting there seemed to be by himself, so it doesn't look like I was re-allocated due to family/baby reasons. Whatever the reason though - I certainly wasn't complaining! Couldn't tell if Y was full. It could have been, but there didn't seem to be that many people boarding. J was full.

Has anyone else had this happen before? Perhaps some good karma for being one of the few to post a serious response to the #QantasLuxury competition? ;)

Cheers,
- Febs.

Tonight? Nothing unusual, had it myself. I refer you to the thread about qantas thanking its customers. ;)
