QF 18 stopping over in NZ?

Does anyone know why QF 18 (Buenos Aires to Sydney) is stopping over in locations in NZ on some days but not others? Went to book a flight and on some days the service is direct to Sydney and on others it stops in either Auckland or Christchurch, and the flight takes nearly 3 hours longer to reach Sydney.

When did you see these flights? I know in the next couple of weeks a few QF18 flights are stopping in NZ for the Rugby World Cup. I assume they are carrying supporters on package tours.

Stopping over in AKL: QF18 departing EZE 5 and 7 September (arriving in AKL 6 & 8 Sept.)

Also, the flight leaving Buenos Aires on 31 August stops in Christchurch on 1 Sept.

RWC. One of the flights is dropping off the Argentina team. The other flights would be RWC related as well. Nothing too exciting.
