Flying SYD-ADL-SYD and also SYD-WLG-SYD on discount economy (sale) fares.
In both cases the exit rows are blocked out, when only one or two other seats have been allocated.
Is/will it be possible to select exit row seats (at appropriate cost)? (Would Expert Flyer be of use.)

Suggest it is a status block. As a WP I can select exit rows on domestic regardless of fare type. Not sure about SG level.

Its common for them to remain blocked if the flight is lightly loaded. The available seating generally changes at about 80 hours before departure. This is where an ExpertFlyer subscription comes is handy, setting a seat alert for the seats you are after and then you will receive an email when they become available.

At SG you can select exit rows regardless of fare type too. IIRC, PS can select them too but for a fee? Or maybe I'm making that up.

The OP is listed as PS. For the SYD-ADL flights it is most likely a 737 and a PS can't select seat as far forward as the exit rows until T-80. Status block.

Correct. The exit rows on a B738 are within the seating zone for CL/WP/SG only, so until T-80 no-one else can select an exit. There is no cost for exit rows on domestic, but often they're gone by the time anyone else can select them.

I must admit I have started defaulting to 13a or 13f on 737-800 flights, and have enjoyed the extra leg room especially on a flight like Mel-cns, however I have yet to have a spare seat next to me. And going forward on shorter flights will prob try for closer to the front of the cabin and hope my "shadow" follows me, as id prefer the seat next to me being vacant over the legroom on shorter domestic flights

Thanks everyone, it's difficult to remember all of QF's 'features'
Can always get an answer or advice on AFF. :D
