Does anybody know if Virgin have been given the all clear to start operating their A330's? I thought they start this week, with a few AFF'ers due to fly her MEL-SYD on Saturday.

I think a second bird should have arrived by now? Does anybody know if it has?

Maybe if any Virgin rep could fill us in?

Thanks,

LR.

I believe they have been given the all clear! The second aircraft is also in country.

As far as I am aware Virgin received CASA approval for the A330 flights about 10 days ago so I assume they will start as planned on the 26th,
As for aircraft they currently have two A330's,those being VH-XFA and XFB,they have two new 737's in the new livery VH_YFC and YFE,the next one VH-YFF has just undergone first flight test at Puget Sound so it should be here soon,I also hear that we can expect the first ATR to be delivered quite soon as well.
Cheers

I bloody well hope they are, Ive taken tThursday off, and am travelling both ways on it :p
Anyone needs guesting to the lounge before 8am flt, or between arrival in Perth (11.15) , and return 1pm, let me know

We certainly are!
For those who don't make the flight,.... we're working on a different sort of keepsake for this our first official, "Coast To Coast" A330 flight! ;)

Hope you keep me posted.....

Off topic... I've been trying to find a Virgin Australia Model plane... You wouldn't happen to know the best place to find any would you?

All systems go for tomorrow's launch flight. We have even found the requisite Qantas spy on the manifest and see that they have also joined Velocity - no status match sorry. :p Good to see that they will slum it in economy in one direction - wouldn't really expect Qantas management to mix it with the hoi poloi.

Good to hear, I'm a bit disappointed that I can't come on the inaugural flight :( But I've managed a flight in 2 weeks and that will feel just as special IMO

Please tell me that was witty humor.......It is witty humor isn't it? Who's flying Mr. Joyce himself  :D

I'm flying Business on Friday and back Sunday slumming it in Y but booked an exit row so it won't be too bad. ;)

LOL. I think that Qantas think that I am a Virgin Spy (a FA once asked me, during a flight, if I worked for Virgin Blue... ROFL, so something might be on their manifests) and conversely Virgin probably think that I am a Qantas spy too. And not forgetting Jetstar, who probably think that I am just plane weird (often the A320 pilots pop out to take a look at me in my converted 1A business class seat [1B tray table deployed immediately after ascent, when available].) :D

Hope you put him down the back near the dunny.

...next to the crying baby and the man i had last week in 3B (I was in C) who was flying to a medical conference - i called him "Dr Spread-eagle" - yes to his face!

Would also help if an appropriately pre-warned FA spills some orange juice on them too

hadn't heard of her before... watching some stuff on youtube now :)

watched it: ummm well - let's just say i wouldn't pay to see her.... she obviously gets some of the nuances of flying - but all the stuff is the same - and hardly funny: though the horse-faced BA ladies is spot on ;)

Silently? Hah! What did QF do when Virgin Australia first announced the Coast-to-coast services...With all guns blazing they got the 747s out :D

Yeah got them out alright---Out of retirement :D

Seriously though, Virgin has put it balls on the block, so to speak, to offer a genuine alternative to the QF Monopoly. Their service levels have improved out of this world, and TBH, they would be one of the better carriers around these days.

Oh thats a classic. Typcial Qantas, silently scared.

It is quite normal for companies in all industries to be checking out their competitors offerings.

I would have been more surprised if there wasn't someone from Qantas checking it out.

I have it on good authority (Rather an educated guess after trawling through the booking engine for the last hour) that VH-XFA will commence SYD-PER-SYD services on the 6th of June
