Tom Tom, Navman or Garmin

We have a navman with 3 years free map upgrades.
The first year, the maps wouldn't update & I had to send it to their service centre for them to update it. We have had no problems in general use once used to it.
We think it has good advanced lane warning & saftey camera warnings. Unfortunately, school zones are warned 24/7 also.

Thanks all for the advice.... Not sure if it's any easier to decide though...
I like the idea of "sticking to what you know" but many of the others sound good...

The idea of Tom tom on iPhone intrigues me as it is a device I always carry and 1 less thing to take (except the cradle). Can anyone who uses this tell me if (being on Optus) having a poor phone signal or one that drops out, reduces the performance?

Thanks all, I appreciate your ongoing advice...

I am not with Optus - I am with Vodaphone - way worse signal strength and coverage as most people know.

But the advantages of Tom Tom on iPhone far outweigh the disads - YES you occasionally lose signal - YES you do do a few u turns etc - BUT - 1 device - free updates - PRICELESS.

Have used Garmin, Tom Tom stand alone a cheap Navig8tr or something - IMHO Tom Tom on Iphone stands head and shoulders.
