Looking for advice on the "new" 4 page visa application for the PRC....

Section 2.7 "Do you have medical insurance..etc"

Presumably the name of ones travel insurer and the policy number are sufficient here??

Section 3.6 "Major family members"

WTF?

Do they mean those travelling with you? It doesn't say that at all (then again it isn't the most user friendly document!)..

Help! :shock::mrgreen:

Note: I have tried numerous times to call and ask these questions.. during the 2 hour period they claim to be open to such enquiries.... no luck at all... constant engaged signal.

Thinking of farming it out to an agent!

We just got our visas for PRC (one applied direct in Canberra, one in Sydney via agent (long story!) - try and find the old form - it is still being accepted until the end of the month. Makes life much easier (for now).

As for the new questions - good luck - they are very confusing...but when it comes to PRC I don't really expect anything less...

easily summed up.... ENGRISH

Great idea about trying to use the OLD form!

..and yup, that was my impression too... Velly good Engrish!

If you scan that section of the form, showing the Chinese version of the question, I can tell you what they mean...

Very kind of you Will.... Thanks...

..but I've found the old form online and plan to submit that!

Thanks everyone!!!!

Yes, i used old form in March 2011 successfully, but needed extra info that i didn't know that you needed because that info is on the new forms. so double check. they do have a photocopy machine at the visa office for 20 cents a copy.
you had to have a photocopy of your last PRC visa. if it is in an old passport you have to have a copy of that one too. i didn't have the old passport with me, so funnily enough they took a copy of a Medibank Private card with his name on that too. if a child is under 16, you don't need this.

Hi Trooper

Where is this "old" form available?

Many thanks in advance.

Also for anyone with familiariy on this, if the travel insurance on your Amex card payment is to be used, how is the question on insurance answered?

I'm not computer savvy.. so I don't know how to give you a link... but all I did was google "PRC visa application form"

One of the results was "Forms for Download" and the old form was accessible there...

Even the simpler 2 page form is a PITA... (no surprise really)

One is asked to provide lots of details about ones "Inviter, contact or relative" in China...

Huh? I'm stopping in Beijing for a real short stay on a multi-flight itin..... I don't HAVE an "Inviter, contact etc"...

Sheesh!

Did that (I guess I'm not all that savvy for not doing a Google search!).

Many thanks.

As much as Chinese form questions are confusing, often the answers do not matter much so Don't get too caught up on exactly what they do or don't want, fill the spot with something halfway appropriate and they will call if there is a problem (this has been my experience).

Sounds like more good advice...

Dropped the app in this morning... arrived prepared for a queue and a wait... not a soul there!

In and out in about 3 minutes... told to pick it up Monday (all being well presumably...)

NOT what I expected!
