Obviously a slow news day and the fall back option when there's nothing better to write about is to bash Qantas. The length of the article and lack of apparently obtains photos suggests to me that this is nothing more then a disgruntled employee trying to make something out of nothing. Go to just about any restaurant and at least some part of your meal is derived from something that was once frozen.

I'm sure the journalist doesn't give a second though about how long ago her lean cuisine was made before throwing it in the microwave and heating it on high for five minutes.

As you say, another slow news day. NoNews living up to their ever-so-(not)high level of journalistic integrity.

It really is a joke (the reporting that is).

Considering that "fresh" produce from the supermarket may be up to a year old after harvest, its definately no news, now the breakfast cereal that i got served that was past its use by date is another story!

I like the Qantas articles at news.com.au ........when I say I like the articles I mean I like the fact that the articles are published.

Without them I wouldn't get to read the user comments, which always bring a big smile to my face and brighten my day!!! :)

This article does raise a very important question though......Is the freezing of the food inspired by(F̶r̶e̶d̶)Neil Perry? :p

Sounds like a really slow news day.

I don't really mind if produce is frozen from time to time, as long as the meal isn't still frozen when it's served to me.

(yes, that happened once last year when flying in J from CBR-MEL).

One employee said Q-Catering used to have to meet high standards of preparation and presentation but now "lumps of frozen food were simply dumped in china bowls and covered".

Come on no news - name them!

I was one who thought that frozen was not good, however this can be a misguided view.
I was speaking to someone in the seafood industry who assures me that seafood straight off the boat is not as good as seafood frozen fresh on the boat. Whether the same applies to fruit and veg at the supermarket I don't know.

Heston Blumenthal has a much more interesting take on the subject ( Heston's Mission Impossible ), which provided some interesting viewing.

Yes, frozen isn't always bad.

Aren't Qantas a bit like the fish monger that tells you your fish is 'fresh frozen'? Use the word fresh ('made from fresh ingredients'), but never actually say the food you get is fresh?

Must be a BA thing. We received the same towards the end of JFK-LHR daytime flight. Again, crew didnt care, but then, we were in Y.....

Edit: I should add, response was "they're all like that"......

If you get the chance, watch Heston Blumenthal's Mission Impossible British Airways episode. With the attitude of BA's chief chef, I am not surprised to here that sort of customer service...
