Rumour has it that EK are looking at replacing a 777 with an A380 for BNE ops, confirmation expected by end of the month.

Demand much be huge from BNE then

What about MEL... Still no A380 from EK......

SQ going to 2 x A380 daily by years end ......

Hope it's the flight which goes to AKL and back. I have a heap of points which I need to burn shortly.

I think its been on the cards for a while, the EK lounge is designed for an A380 in BNE in terms of the logistics of getting PAX on the plane, allowing for direct upper deck access.

Would not be surprised, at certain times of the year the Gold Coast is overflowing with Middle Eastern folk on holidays etc, from memory one of the royal family members passed away while on such a holiday a few years back from one of the middle eastern countries!

Kazbah on the Gold Coast

If I remember correctly the Fed. Govt. intervened to ensure the body was back in Dubai quite swiftly

Dubai ruler dies on Gold Coast

If OP was kind enough to reveal the source of this rumour we might be able to judge its credibility. Otherwise I'm going to call bull****.

I do believe that Emirates spokespeople have " poured cold water" on the rumour.

Loads out of BNE are not good. The only justification for an A380 would be if EK reduced from 2 flights to 1 flight per day.

The MEL-DXB flight loads are always full, but the flight via KUL not so much.
The most likely new A380 destination for EK will be SIN, in our region they already go to BKK, HKG, PVG, PEK, ICN and SYD/AKL.

........but you never know with EK, they rarely follow logic.
