Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Came across Gordon Tallis a couple of years ago in the QF part of BNE domestic. I had him autograph my boarding pass so my son couldn't falsely claim it! Also passed Wayne Swan also on another occasion in the same location. AS I looked at him trying to place his face he gave me a knowing, friendly nod.

Was 5 rows behind Prince William today on NZ525 AKL-CHC.

Saw Kevin Rudd in December last year QF124 AKL-BNE.

The young, balding ginger :p

Rudd came over and said g'day in the departure lounge. Was just travelling with one assistant who was giving him Christmas cards to sign.

Bit of an odd one in days gone by;

When I was a younger lad travelling with my parents, we were in a SQ lounge in Singapore, and my dad played bridge against Omar Sharif and some of his cronies.

I remember it clearly as i was bored off my head!

Would have been awesome so sit next to him I’d think… I don’t think I’d have known whether to talk or be quiet :p

Talk, obviously. He puts his trousers on one leg at a time, just like everyone else!

I am sure HRH would love to hear about AFF!

Then there's those who aren't famous but think they are by association, like journalists covering HRH Prince William's Australian/NZ tour.

Checking in for their BNE/MEL flight "I'm so and so and I'm covering Prince William's tour"....

and????

Now are they someone really special because a) they're a journalist or b) they're a journalist covering the Royal Tour? :rolleyes:

LOL

Neither....

I was in the DJ lounge in MEL after the F1 (some other info was in the Off-Topic thread).

Saw the Sydney Swans (yay. Not an AFL fan).
One of the Car teams support crew were in the lounge + their corporate sponsor hanger-ons.

But the person of interest (I believe, can't confirm who it actually was) was the brother of a well known F1 driver with his GF/partner. He also races, and I originally thought he was the F1 driver (BUT - why would he be flying DJ Premium Economy???). Walked into the lounge and commented "As long as I don't have to sign any more autographs!".

Priceless Mal!

Big (well not so big) Kim Beezley and Peter Beattie in the SYD F lounge on Monday 28 March.

Forgot to post it here earlier;

Alex Perry on flight QF 51 SIN-BOM on March 26/27.

Looked quite "smart casual" in black jeans and shirt, denim jacket & cowboy boots. :cool:
