I'm sorry but neither of those thongs belong in either lounge. Not compared to my $30 designer thongs, thank you very much.

Are you kidding me? Until I looked at that site, I didn't believe that it would be possible to make shoes uglier than Crocs - but I'm no speechless.

No. Anyone attempting to wear these shoes into the lounge should be booted over to Jetstar, or better yet a Wicked camper for their trip.

Designer thongs are still thongs, hiding under a pretentious logo ;)
 
^^Not in a lounge but I have seen these on more than one occasion in airports.. (the fivefinger, rubber gloves for feet things)

To me they are hideous looking and I wouldn't feel comfortable with them for hygiene reasons either. Note: I understand that they may have benefits for certain individuals undertaking certain physical activities.

Luckily for me, my BIL works selling street wear and the benefit for me is that I get that stuff as presents for helping him out in the past.

(BTW I'm not talking about 5 finger thingys - Not even game to look at the link) :D

I'm not sure about Mr.Porter as a role model for style :confused:

They have thongs displayed in their footware section, but at GBP 46, all I can imagine is they must have a large number of clients who are actively smoking something highly illegal to part with that kind a cash for something you can get for AUD 5 :eek: (the old adages about telling someone it's worth a lot of money and they believing it and a fool and his money.......etc, etc, rings somewhat true there).

To make matters worse, under their "style advice" tab, they suggest Loafers for restaurant visits :shock: (along with a Panama hat). A quick bo-peep at their shoe page (just to make sure I'm not confusing footware styles) sees a pair of loafers, which as I suspected, is the very shoe we used to refer to in the RAAF days as "brothel creepers".

Off the Ralph Lauren site.........seems they think thongs are fine, just make sure you roll up your chinos.....to show them off a bit more :D

And in my day as "Desert Boots", matched with white long pants, open neck long sleeve shirt, with a Cravat knoted around the neck. Ahhhhhhh.....I stil have bad dreams about that gear.
Bet Matt Preston and I could stroll into the FLOUNGE in that attire.

samiam - your RSVP to JohnK's invitation seems like the logical solution for those who want to a) prove that they are not dirty and grimey, and b) those who feel that next to nothing is fine in hot climates - NOT that I would be advocating such, though would certainly make people spotting at the QP interesting - wonder where they would put their boarding pass?

Well yes, was in the Bris. lounge late Sunday afternoon last with my wife, could not believe how many yobbo's were there with thongs on and tatty clothing, we looked over at adjacent seat, a YOB lifting his hands up to his head with all of his armpit hair in full view, no thanks, we moved elsewhere. Empty beer glasses sat on the tall tables and the mens had paper all around the floor next to basins, it had not been cleaned for some time (short staffed?), my lady commented "why did we join Q Club!".
