Our office is on Ann St, so have great views of the river rushing by this morning. Will be interesing to see it rise over the next day or so.

Was the quickest bus ride in this morning!

Are you not affected by the power cuts then?

Not as of yet. Originally they said they'd shut off the power in parts of the CBD at 7am, and then at 8:30, but we're still here. I'd say t would just be along the river in Riparian, Riverside etc.

This was yesterday at Riverside, 1:30pm. It's come up about 1 meter overnight from this point.

This is from our office. You can see the Jazz Club to the far left is about to go right under.

They've just reported Oxley's/ Drift is drifting down the river, though it looks too small to be the whole restaurant. And I remember discussion about this restaurant only a little bit ago.

Yeah only a part broke off yesterday apparently, the cafe part, not the restaurant.

I'm at work today. Very skeleton staff here, and they are encouraging us to go home.

I get paid either way, but want to be around. Am supposed to be here until 5 anyway today.

I'm sure the ground floor of where I am staying is either flooded or about to flood. Don't be concerned about me, I have contingencies available and my belongings are safe.

10.44am: The Queensland Premier is giving her latest briefing and is urging residents in the state not to travel unless it is absolutely necessary. Other traffic on the roads may hamper emergency services trying to help people in trouble.
Anna Bligh says just because there's blue skies in Brisbane - a "surreal experience", as she described them - does not mean people . "The water is in the catchment and on [its] way," she says.
The latest forecast is that the Brisbane River will peak tomorrow at 5.5m. The expected peak in Ipswich has been revised down to 20.5m.

Reports about explosions/fires around Suncorp Stadium possibly to do with transformers (of the non-alien kind).

Energex say they are interrupting supply to six city blocks, but could have to turn off as many as 10.

I've seen photos of Milton all under water (where Suncorp Stadium is), including Milton Maccas, so not suprised things that will happen.

It's getting a fair bit of traffic, but has *heaps* of capacity.

Just heard on the radio Public transport in Brisbane (ie the busses) are going to be shutting down from around 1pm.

Heard the premier say they were working to secure the island which risks break it's moorings. Apparently it's at Milton. If it goes the structural engineers are going to get some work double checking a few bridges.

She also said that oxleys wharf was going to sink today. I guess the bit that is still there.

Just read they were told to leave the doors and windows open to let the water flow through...

Pity my CNS-BNE flight gets in after dark today as I wanted to see the Mighty Bris in full anger!
I believe there re only slight delays in flights now that the weather has calmed.
Our Dept has been told to stay home, probably till Friday as the city is a no go with power cuts and public transport delays.

There are a few free boats floating by if you need one!

I'm heading home in an hour or so, don't want to get caught with no bus!

I guess you mean on oxleys wharf. Bit hard as the iPhone app truncates the quotes. But I guess the Island is basically a flat deck barge so not much there to stop flow.
