Oneworld HOME F lounges

Sorry simongr I need better glasses. Maybe I've just been lucky but Champers always cold, buffet OK, menu service at tables quite good and a great selection of magazines. I forget the name of the travel one with the ads for private jets.
The Elemis spa is also good.

+1. I was wondering if I'd actually visited the same T3 lounge...

Flying BA used third party lounge (Club America F) in MIA yes free wfii, very basic facilities, wine/spirits food almost non existing biscuits, crackers and may be sandwich. Maybe should have tried their basic lounge to compare difference.

LAX F better than AC free wfii, food like SYD, BRIS and MELB Dom J, better drinks, crisps and snack bars but showers are in AC area and are reasonable.

Haven't been to NY for a couple of years, what I remember OK, had facial in massage chair.

LHR - T5 concorde - Love it
T3 BA/QF F not as good as concorde I did enjoy the ability to order from a menu, would have like to use the spa but only for QF/BA pax - agree with princess Fiona (I was flying CX lounge before reno terrible)

- Grumpy - Yes there is a spa as stated above - And yes if I pay F I want the best F I can get.

HK QF F food good and facility better than 2009
CX don't think I've been to F - from the descriptions read in other threads.

SYD F what can I say that hasn't been said - yes I do like.

2011 will be flying BA from ORD any comments on lounge facility - has anyone used BA F and AY HEL will be waiting for final outcome simongr

LHR T3 AA F Lounge is just so-so, a decent QP beats it. Pokey, crowded, food items not flash, and just left me underwhelmed (and wondering what the AC would be like).

However, it's an 'away' lounge so maybe we shouldn't expect too much.

@SFO - BA has a F 'room'
@YVR - BA has a F 'section'
@LGW - BA may have a F lounge there, I can't quite remember now
@HEL - If things haven't changed (I haven't been there for 3 years or so), the AY lounge is one big one. The right side is J, the other side is F. F has slightly better food and booze, same facilities.

Re Concorde Room - I think only F customers can get in. Emeralds travelling on lower classes can't.

I am a really harsh marker ;)

happy to move it to a home lounge - I was not aware of the spa which would be a big distinction between home and away.

LGW indeed has a BA F/L.

I believe the lounges there are/were being renovated.

When I used to do LGW-BGI-JFK (as my "normal" routing to the US from the UK :shock:) I did use that lounge frequently - i would class it as a "home" lounge as although it was a little shoddy it was still a substantial lounge.

@SFO - BA has a F 'room'
It's also where I was directed when I was SG/OWS when I was there last year. There was a sign at the regular J lounge bar that said 'Champagne available on request'. I went to request it from reception and was told "Oh there's some in the room on the right if you'd like some".

I walked in there to find one of my travelling companions had already taken up seat with laptop and glass of Pommery firmly in hand :p

I reckon this thread should be a sticky.

2ndly, in BKK i'm surprised but happy to see a flounge for cx and qf, which one is better? Key concern for me is the food offering as I'll get to the lounge about 5:30pm...

Don't even think of a CX lounge at BKK unless the QF lounges are closed!

(... or you wish to sit in a small quiet room with limited shelf stable refreshments and a ½ chance of tapping into the Qantas F/L wifi)

I've now visited the AA flagship lounges in the USA (with the exception of MIA which is closed until next years so im typing this from the D15 admirals club instead) over the past few days so my thoughts are below.

The flagship lounges are certainly nothing special. The food options aren't too bad (big fan of the crudités they had, the 70's has come back!) and there is usually a decent premium alcohol selection available for self service (ORD lounge had Tanqueray No. 10 which was approved of). JFK lounge was nothing special. They really are just standard admirals clubs with better food and booze, behind secretive doors (and a long hike in the case of the ORD lounge all the way out at the end of the K concourse; why the hell doesn't ORD have travellators??). With the exception of booze options, id say our DOM J lounges are better btw in comfort and food options, but the staff at AA lounges are AAngels!

That said, not one of the flagship lounges had real champagne during the day. It was all local sparkling wine. The LAX one may in the evenings, but haven't been there at night to check.

Joburg has a BA J to the right of reception and F to the left. Better food/drinks and way less people.

The joint AA/QF F lounge in LAX T4 is missing. Definitely better than the Oneworld F lounge in TBIT.

Not so sure I agree. It's certainly a lot quieter and more peaceful, but I'd say the food in the TBIT F lounge is much better, as is the drinks selection (though beer wise, TBIT J lounge > TBIT F Lounge - imported Asahi!)

As a side question - does Qantas own/subsidise the T4-TBIT bus? I waited in the queue recently with some mates (who were travelling LAX-SYD on QF) and was told I couldn't use the bus, as I was travelling CX to HKG. Same terminal of course, but I wasn't travelling QF.

The funny part is, I walked to TBIT, went through security, walked into the lounge, and STILL managed to finish my drink before my mates arrived (the bus service seemed to be really struggling that time - worse than I've seen it before).

I've never been in the AA F lounge in JFK so not sure how they compare.

Pretty average.

Cheers,
- Febs.

BA F in JNB is good for an away lounge. Like the wines. And it is a Galleries lounge, and waaaay better than their nasty old Terraces lounge.

Gotta say too, for home/"flagship" lounges, the Wing/Pier in HKG don't hugely impress me. Don't get me wrong - they're very relaxing and pleasant (one of them reminds me a LOT of the old SYD QF F lounge), and the restaurant is decent, but compared to MEL/SYD QF F, NRT JAL F and LHR T5 F lounges...no comparison. Hoping to try out the Cabin this Thursday night.

SYD/MEL QF F (for the whole package), LHR T5 BA F (for the alcohol), NRT JAL F (for the alcohol, food and ambience) lounges are my top 3. :)

Cheers,
- Febs.

They certainly are!! Last week the F lounge AAngel in LAX managed to get me on standby for 2 earlier flights STL-DFW-LHR, as my original flight DFW-LHR had no chance of an upgrade to J, and the earlier flight did. Was travelling on a very cheap Y ticket, and you aren't meant to be able to go standby on international flights.... :)
and the upgrade came thru...

I just arrived in ORD after a very delayed flight from MiA. The AAngels at the flagship lounge are now working their magic. They know i want to keep my original routing, and they're making it happen whilst i continue my beverages. Very civilised.

These are the very unpublished benefits of WP/OW Emerald. When the proverbial hits the fan, they really do look after you.

And the AAngel just delivered me my boarding passes. Service with a smile!

Too true!

I'm in the LAX F/L now. Will be back here in the evening on the 31st so will see if there are bubbles in the evening. Light lunch right now is chicken satays :)

Grasshopper, (:p), while that is true today, none of the lounges you mention were around when the Wing was opened at Chek Lap Kok last century.

Back then the CX HKG lounges definitely set the standards when oneworld was formed.

Note the HKG CX First Lounges will be closed for renovation over the coming months/year.

Spicy plum with basmati rice? Or proper satay? Hopefully a little fresher than the ones there the other day I had. Were very dry and not very plummy.
