Noticed when walking into the SYD Flounge today that some tables at the restaurant section have been reserved - with those laminated "reserved" signs that you see in restaurants identifying such tables. It's the first time I've noticed these signs.

Anyone knows who qualifies for such a perk?

In saying that, I've used both Flounges at the best of times as well as at the worst of times, and have had no trouble securing a table at the restaurant each time.

Saw this in the SYD F lounge last weekend. The table was the large round one near the window and after about 5 min an Aussie now living in Hollywood sat down. This Aussie also has a deep passion for Rabbits, Rugby League and chucking the odd wobbly.

I wonder if the normal people can reserve such tables.

I have seem them in Sydney often; normally at the larger tables.

Dining tables at MEL as well; the four seaters along the Northern windows are often reserved.

I am thinking it mainly to prevent solo PAX or couples from walking up and grabbing them.

Not surprised however the expat Kiwi would gain such solo access.

I've noticed that any table that seats 4 or more is marked as reserved. On a recent trip to the F lounge in MEL 4 of us walked in and asked for a seat, the reserved sign was removed, and we were seated.

From what I can see, it's a method of crowd control. They say to sit where you like, but if everyone took one of the round tables for 4 when they were travelling by themselves, and then a party of 4 walked in, it would not be a good thing.

So it's not 'reserved' it's just a polite way of telling people where to sit :)

I sit at one of two tables every time - I get quite flummoxed if my preferred table is already in use - but thankfully the fall back table has always been available.

I don't have OCD - really...

This afternoon in SYD must have been the exception then. Tables were not reserved (except one two seated) and we were pointed to an unreserved four dearer near the window.

I’ve only ever come into the lounge in a group of 3+ so have always used the bigger round tables, so they are my preference :p

Having only been there a couple of times I have not yet developed a preferred table.

However I am open to suggestions for my next visit in Feb.;)

I always assumed any table in FLounge was good.

IMHO huge sunnies and a pre-booked meeting room is the way to go. Saves having to mix with the peasants ;)

I saw this on 17 Oct when I left for JFK, and it seems more like crowd control.

It was pretty busy at the time and I noticed as people left each table the reserved sign went on.

I asked one of the waiters for a table, was given a menu, sat nearby and in a minute or two was asked back to one of the tables recently vacated.

Strewth if there are peasants in the Flounge I wonder if there is hope anywhere? :p

Confession, my post was a little bit tongue in cheek. On the occasions the Shrek family have visited this tactic has been very successful. Shrek has also seen Delta Goodrem do this in the Flounge . It is quite interesting watching people look at you trying to see if you are famous. The waiter service for drinks and food is superb.

Understand completely, have been in SYD Flounge a couple of times but never seen a celebrity.

BKK J lounge last night was total bougainvillea waiting to board my *Class flight home. :D

I neglected to mention I’ve only visited twice :p

Hey leave us peasants alone :p

I have had a table reserved for me and a colleague (fellow peasant) in the F lounge. The restaurant was full when we entered and a nice lady escorted us to a lounge seat then came to fetch us when a table had been cleared and reserved.

Hmm ... surprised to you posting at that time; then I checked:
Code:
JQ3 Sydney Honolulu 18:00 19:54 06:45 09:20 Departed
So 114 minutes late.

I agree. From my (limited) experience they reserve the larger ones for groups.
