I’d have thought the different Chinese airlines would want to compete with each other by each joining different alliances, but perhaps they’re all owned by the same government? :p

Let me give you a heads up on Chinese thinking. There is no competition between Chinese Government owned airlines, and since all airlines in China are government owned. Therefore there is no competition, but there will be a reason for the change. We will just have to wait and see.
