Probably the only hopes for places to get new lounges are:
  • Needs QF metal to fly there
  • Must be one of:
    • Close to a mining operation (or operations)
    • A very populous city
So MCY gets rubbed off on all those counts.

Depends how you classify 'very populous'.... Sunshine Coast has a population base of around 250K, depending who you source information from.

QF certainly flies to cities smaller than that without mining operations :p

And it is close to Gympie which I think still has a gold mine.

For me, even though I'm SYD based, its nice to see QF metal expanding on routes again. CBRDRW/MELDRW and seasonal flying to HBA I hope is just the start.I'm sure when DJ up their onboard product to sit closer to QF you'll see the QF brand back into places like OOL as well.

There are also rumours that QF mainline will return to supplement LST, QFLink is doing very well there now and just don't have the metal free to add any more flights.

So I wouldn't be suprised to see QF helping out with some 737's over summer as well.... maybe operating the early business departure again...
