That is the normal price if the airfare is purchased from SIN.
Not really that cheap considering I have just spent ~AUD870 on an open jaw from SIN-BNE/SYD-SIN in economy.
Mark I was not being critical. It was actually more a go at QF than anything.John, that was the price ex Aus - comparing it to a fare ex SIN is hardly a comparison of apples with apples.
Now $1200-$1500 return in premium economy is a totally different story....

Profitable? Not my problem. That is for the airline to work out.At that rate economy or even discount economy would be about $500-$750, that doesn’t make much sense, or at least, that wont be profitable.
Personally I value premium economy at 25% more than economy and worst case scenario at 50% more than economy. ....
Some people may see value in that type of airfare but for ~7 hours of flying I would rather take the $ saving than the premium economy seat. And now I am just ranting again....
What I can't work out is with Premium Economy you get double the SC's, a 10% cabin bonus and premium economy awards are 50% more than economy. Why is a normal Premium Economy airfare 3-4 times the price of economy?
Personally I value premium economy at 25% more than economy and worst case scenario at 50% more than economy. If an economy airfare SYD-SIN return and booked in Australia is somewhere between $900-$1200 then I can't workout how premium economy for $2200 return is that special. It is still double the normal price for economy. That is great Qantas marketing to call it a special.
Emirates bne-sin-bne j $3123
I think in some cases the Y+ fares are increasing because the class has gained in popularity
I tend to agree with the 25-50% mark you are talking about. If I was going to throw away $2.2K on Y+, might as well go whole hog and do $3.1 on J. If looking at it on purely space ground, they certainly don't occupy 2-3x the space of a Y seat.
PE is not available ex BNE to SIN so thats irrelevant, besides you would want to be paying me $3100 to catch an 0200 departure. The Melbourne pricing is much better if other factors besides price and timing are not important, personally I would rather be flying CX J, its cheaper so long as you nest and do two trips a year, at $2500 return all in.
What is a special is always dependant on what your preferences are, which obviously vary, to QF a special is anything below their normal pricing.
Hi,
I would like to ask about the price in CX J class for $2,500.00?
Can you let me know if this is an actual fare?
Thanks.
