Their website provides no live flight info...and the info available on virginblue is just plain poor...seems to rely on some Adobe graphics viewer which is no longer supported. Shoddy.

In fact according to Virginblue flight DJ(VA)23 departed and arrived in HKT on time!

Still haven't seen anything in the media regarding this, now if it had been QF on th other hand. ;)

I presume if the a/c is out of action for long enough the media will have to get up and report on it, because it could cause significant network disruptions for V Australia and you can’t ignore that forever :p

If this was QF it would be front page news with 'Airline of death' or some equally crazy headline :)

After last weeks 'Qantas A380 forced down in the Pacific' I think we can safely predict...'Qantas Jet Crashes at LAX!'.

Drunk Pilot backs plane into Los Angeles
A V Australia pilot seen having a light beer by the airlines hotel pool sometime in the past week has backed is new 777 into the terminal at LAX, more to follow......

Sorry but the description of the aircraft involved is far too accurate for a newscom story. Replace 777 with 737 though and you might've nailed it! ;)

That headline was above a picture of JT with Clipper Ella :lol:

737 is still too accurate, try the Airbus A777...that is more like it!

Ha, all this new-fangled web searching. :p

There's a small piece on the incident in today's Courier Mail, page 18.

"Hundreds of V Aus pax bound for BNE were left stranded at LAC after their flight's aircraft reversed into infrastructure. Flight VA8 was due to leave LAX on Sat but was cancelled after the aircraft that was being towed reversed into a blast fence. A blast fence is a safety device that redirects the exhaust from a jet engine to prefent any damage.
VB group spokewoman Melissa Thomson said the 339 affected customers were put on alternative flights to ensure they were able to reach their destination. Bne resident Nick Wellwood, whose wife was travelling on the affected flight, said he was unable to contact her & said V Aus would not give him any info about problems with the flight.
V Aus said they ciuld not give out pax info due to privacy reasons."

(shortening of words mine)

I heard a colleague in the office today talking about a cancelled flight at LAX. I *think* she arrived yesterday, which means she would have left Fri, not Sat, but she said there was chaos, and it sounded like she flew LAX-AKL-SYD/MEL-BNE, and was still waiting for her luggage. Don't know for sure, as it was just what I overheard her telling others.

Damned infrastructure, glad we have not got any of that in Brisbane.

Thanks for the news article excerpts Katie!

How the heck does that happen?
anat0l,

Tarmac rash is pretty much the thing that damages more aircraft and costs airlines more $$$$ that any thing else. The most common is from baggage loaders and catering trucks.

Tha annual statistics for aircraft damage on the tarmac are astronomical. :(

Lets not forget the recent QF incident at what would be the slowest airport for operations in Australia ;) with two aircraft and not much else.

Here's a handy number for any VA lurkers :D:D:D:D
