No Android app that I am aware of. The iphone app is a customisation of another app developed generically for vBulletin forums.

The mobile version of the site is available to Silver and Gold AFF members. After logging in, Silver and Gold members may select Mobile mode.

I just subscribed now that I have a phone where this is useful. Where is the link to the mobile version?

One logged in, go to the bottom of the page and you will find a drop-down list to select style between PC mode or Mobile mode.

Downloaded the demo version of tapatalk for android but could not find ff forum.

Just found out why, requires forum administrator to "turn on" functionality, so long as the forum is built using vBulletin, IPBoard, phpBB or SMF!

Believe FF is on vBulletin

It was originally turned on for testing, before a customised iOS app was released based on Tapatalk. I’d suggest sending admin a PM if you want to discuss getting that functionality turned on again, though the demo app doesn’t allow posting!

...or convince him to create an Android version as well (speaking as someone looking at taking the Android path :))

Thanks NM, the mobile version is much more bandwidth-friendly!

It would be great if the administrator provided Tapatalk a
ccess. The full version also allows posting. The android app has a simple, easy to use interface.

As I mentioned, sending him a PM would provide much better results than speaking to the wind as it were in this thread.

As I see it though, it’s not just about paying Tapatalk for an app that allows you to post, as there are no ads displayed in the mobile versions anyway, admin would have to recoup his costs some other way. I believe you need to be Gold or Silver to use and post from the AFF iOS app, so if there was a rebranded Android version, the same limitations or requirements would also apply.

Needless to say, you could still send him a PM if you were paid up! But only he knows what’s possible.

Would recommend that you search the App Store for "Aust Freq Fly" - it's a customised version of Tapatalk that permits posting etc (though I don't know if you need a paid membership to allow posting or not)

Given that there is an app for that (;)), I suspect that full Tapatalk capacity won't be switched back on (though not my place to say so one way or another). If there is an Android version of Tapatalk, perhaps admin can work with the folk that write it to offer a customised version for that platform?

That would require an iPhone. The purpose of this thread is to discuss Android.

AFF users have 3 options for accessing the site on a mobile device:

1. the regular phone's browser. (I realise that this is not ideal as the site is designed to operate best on a full screen. But it is still an option, and used by many)

2. Our GOLD and SILVER members can use Mobile Mode (See http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/com...tralian-frequent-flyer-your-mobile-17035.html). This is a low-bandwidth Vbulletin Style designed specifically for a small screen. No ads are displayed, hence the restriction to paid members.

3. iPhone users can download our free iPhone App (Australian Frequent Flyer - Mobile Edition for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store). Anybody can use this app for viewing the forum. Our GOLD and SILVER members log-in via this app and post, send PMs etc. Once logged-in, no ads are displayed.

Our iPhone app is basically a branded version of the Tapatalk iPhone app. I realise that there is a Tapatalk Android module, but at this stage we have no plans to use it on AFF.

Hope this help.
