Europe's competition watchdog cleared the way on Wednesday for a merger between British Airways and Spanish rival Iberia which would create one of the world's biggest airlines.

I wonder if as a result QP members will now get access to IB lounges too (through means of their "BA" lounge access).

If I recall correctly, they’re remaining two separate brands, so unless QF held talks with IB, or rather, renegotiated with the new parent company, then it’d be a no.

Could be useful for you in Europe though ;)

That was my thoughts, too. Have to be optimistic, right? :p

When I was in Europe last year, the only IB flights we looked at taking were codeshares of Vueling so didn't earn any SC/FF anyway, so ended up booking direct with Vueling for a cheaper amount.

As it turns out with the money saved, we spent it on a nice meal before the flight so I think we won overall anyway ;)
