Hi All,

This is my first post as a new member so go easy...

Was flying back from Brisbane yesterday - my fourth flight to and from Brisvegas in as many weeks and about the 20th domestic flight this year when about 20mins in to the flight I started to suffer from nausea, dizziness and what appeared to be low blood pressure.

The FA's were great put me on oxygen, relocated me to Business and within 20 mins I started to feel normal again. By the time we commenced the descent in to Sydney all was well and I deplaned as normal.

The level of professionalism and attention that the FA's displayed was fantastic.

Cheers,

AD

Re: Good Work Qantas FA's!

You just wanted a free upgrade ;)

May have to try that on an international flight next time.

So it was the business class seat and not the oxygen that made you feel better! ;)

On a more serious note, I am glad you are ok, and that the FA's were fantastic and did all they could to make you feel better. You should send in a customer feedback acknowledging their work.

And welcome to AFF!

What a great positive account for your first posting - though sorry that it had arisen in such concerning situation. Glad to hear that you were OK by the end of the fliught. And yes, please do put in a good word for the FAs. As we see all too often - so easy to complain, but so good to compliment!

allandall,

Welcome to AFF.

I'm glad you are OK and hope you have no further issues.

As the others have said please put in a report on the good service provided as all we hear about so often are the bad times.

Put in the compliments via the Qantas site at the same time as posting here. Must have just been a one off with altitude as checkups have given me the all clear to get back on the plane next week.

And I definitely think the Buisness Class seat made all the difference ;)

Cheers,

I've previously had something similar to this happen to me while flying (once SYD-PER and another time ZNE-PER), and as per the OP the FA's were great in handling it (Qantas and Qantaslink). There was no moving me to Business Class unfortunately though!

In the old days I recall that persons with nursing qualifications were in big demand for FA positions. I wonder if that still applies?

I understand from a friend that is a QF CSM that all CSM's have or are about to commence an enhanced updated training course on Medical Procedures (MP's)

Let's hope they cover knee construction, it would be very useful to drron at the moment! :p

Am happy to report the occasions I have been asked to assist in an emergency on QF in most cases the crew had it largely in hand (and my role was mostly reassurance that they had done the right thing - N+V, low BSL etc). It would seem they have quite good training in dealing with onboard medical emergencies (relative to the general population).

Perhaps one of our resident FAS (paging milehighclub) could describe how much first aid training they receive?? And whether they have ongoing training in First Aid? Does it come up in their 6 monthly endorsements etc?

(Mods: this bit might be better for the "Chicken or Beef" thread).
