I have heard a family (highest SG) of four with one award ticket was upgraded on QF 74 leaving 10/7 SFO-SYD - shortly. Although not seating togather. (2x2)

they were also on cheap tickets.

Quite a story really. Things cant be too flash on that route?

Cheers Spruce

If you are referring to premium sales, then possibly. Hoever, in relation to economy sales, it's quite the opposite!

E/F is still showing for this flight:
J9 C9 D9 I9 W2 R2 T2 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 VC SC NC QC OC XC E0
- this seems to indicate the flight was oversold in economy.

School Holidays are hardly an indication of typical loadings across the year, but selling out a Y cabin at present ex SFO given the special pricing ex US offered by DL and UA in the past few months for US-SYD and the lack of a attractive aircraft to service the route is a good sign IMHO.

Do we know what the aircraft type was? Serfty didnt quote F, so i assume two class 747?

If so then the opportunity exists to go straight to J rather than Y+.

A consideration for those chasing UG.

Cheers

From the booking classes definitely sold as 3 class J/W/Y.

I can no longer get a seat map, but ISTR it was a 4 Class config.

It was a four class - VH-OEB.

more interesting they went from whY to J???

Last year I was upgraded on QF73 (actually I was op-up'd twice on this route). The first time I when straight to J. I didn't pass Y+, and I didn't collect $200...

I found it quite interesting that I was op-up'd to J over a Y+ person. But I sure wasn't complaining.
