Hi,
Trying to find a way to quote on multi city flights seems hard. I have tried the Qantas one, but it hiccups on the KUL-LAX sector.

If I want to do MEL-KUL 13th Jul, KUL-LAX 15th Jul, then a couple of domestic flights possibly to Texas), then LAX back to MEL on about the 21st July, is it best to use a travel agent.

I am a mamber of Qantas, Velocity, and Star Alliance (via United)...Any suggestions on where the best place is I can go to build this trip?

Expedia and ZZuji also only seem to allow to build a 3 trip flight??

Cheers

Ideally you'd do this as a < 22,000 mi Circle Pacific, e.g.:

MEL-SIN KUL-HKG-LAX-MEL

Might be just as cheap to buy two separate fares, because of the fare wars transpacific?

No need to use a TA. Sometimes it will be better to book individual sectors. Probably ITA Software: Login is the best site to find the flights - then just book via the individual airline websites.
I'm guessing this is in Y
I would consider:

Jul 13 MEL-KUL on EK ~$550 Credit to Velocity.
(Alternatively fly Air Asia for $600 and get a lie flat bed.)

Jul 15 KUL-LAX on ANA (credit to *A) or CX or SQ (I'm guessing ANA will be much cheaper )

JUL 21 LAX-MEL Whatever is cheaper - probably Air NZ - credit to *A ~$1300

Jul 15 KUL-LAX on ANA (credit to *A) or CX or SQ (I'm guessing ANA will be much cheaper )

ANA don't fly from KUL. Try SIN-LAX on ANA, SQ or UA (dirt cheap, since it's UA).

All in for all three stops you will probably be looking at least $3000 AUD as oneway tickets.
