Jetstar confirms long haul flights from Singapore

Perhaps I got it slightly wrong yesterday.

There is a 3K flight to MNL at 01:30 and then from 6:00-8:25am there are 7 3K and 2 VF flights on the departure boards at SIN T1. There are also some other flights sprinkled throughout the day. Very impressive that 3K and VF have been able to setup that many routes.

NB, a QFF redemption on 3K401 or 3K402 would cost: 36k QFF + taxes.

An online Krisflyer Economy Saver redemption on SQ... would cost 23,375 + $154.50 taxes. You'd earn ~5,225 each way, so 9 return trips credited to Krisflyer should give a free return trip.

QFF earn/burn would only be better if you were QF platinum flying on a JetFlex or StarClass fare. Shame that you won't be able to use miles from another Oneworld program to redeem on this.

Don't like the sound of this either way! (Can you imagine the Kiwis thinking that they've had to wait until 7pm to get these fares and find out that someone's already nicked them - yep, from across the Tasman...) :p

With today's exchange rate plus 3% Amex conversion charge, it's more like AUD 3.6 / SC. Still, a good rate and hard to beat. No idea if return sector is offered at the same price, but in any case I'm saving up for something else and don't have spare cash at the moment :(, otherwise a good deal.

Also something interesting i think....

It advises that it will be operated by Jetstar Airways for Jetstar Asia (3k)?

So JQ crew on 3K aircraft?

Qantas may need to update their T&Cs if 3K start offering Star Class, otherwise there may be some bitter confusion when the SCs don't come rolling in.

That would be JQ crew on JQ operated Aircraft on behalf of Jetstar Asia (3K).

Flights operated by Jetstar Asia (3K) and Valuair (VF) do not offer StarClass.
... and [332] flights operated by Jetstar do!

As you posted:

That would mean:
  • JQ Aircraft (332 which does have *Class)
  • JQ Staff
I presume 3K will "sell/market" the tickets and "pay" JQ to operate the flights.

Yer all good mate, i knew the *Class would be fine for earning points, just find it an interesting how they are doing what they are doing with the a/c, flt numbers and crewing etc etc

And if its a 3K flight number - no lounge access including in Starclass ;)
Bet they update the T&C's!

Bet it's something to do with traffic rights from Singapore -NZ. Do Australian airlines (in this instance JQ) have rights for non stop routes between the two countries?
