I'm thinking of re-jigging my memberships. I live in Australia now, but am planning to move to the UK for a few years. My travel is likely to be lots within Europe, 3 trips back to Australia per year, and at least 2-3 trips to and within the US per year.

I'm presently Platinum with Qantas (Oneworld Emerald) & lifetime Gold. However, my Star Alliance is only silver with Air New Zealand, with which I rarely travel these days. Would joining United for Star Alliance be a better option?

And what about the middle eastern airlines, which often offer good alternatives for London-Sydney travel these days; or Virgin Atlantic?

Welcome to AFF!

I’m not so good on Star Alliance, but I’ve heard time and time again that BMI offers a good program from earning and redeeming point of views.

I think QF have a deal with Etihad, so while not Star Alliance, you could try their service and still credit to QF.

BMI has a great program, but its future is very doubtful.
