Hi, I am trying to upgrade my wife for her July MEL-HKG trip from PE to J. We both have enough points but would I have a better chance if I try to upgrade her as I am SG but she is only NB?

According to the Qantas published information about upgrades, its the status of the travelling passenger that influences the priority on the upgrade waitlist. However, I have anecdotal evidence that in some situations the status of the person whose account provides the points is considered in the process.

Unless someone knows the programming logic used by the Qantas upgrade waitlist system, any suggestions here will be based on speculation and personal experiences.

Agree with NM - published guidelines are that it is the status of the travelling pax, although anecdotal evidence says this does change at times.

Suggest the OP asks from the the Gold FF account - you'll not be any worse off than if requesting from the Bronze acct, but may be better off.

How would that work if the OP is not travelling with their Wife, which is how I am reading the situation, surely it would not be flight that shows when the account is logged in?

Thanks, I was not aware of that and SWMBO only flys with me, so have not had to worry!
