I was going to write a trip report of my recent EK F SYD-AKL-SYD flights, and on both flights the Purser went over and above his call of duty to make our flights fantastic.

So - in writing the trip report, should I mention these "favours", or would the cabin crew be reprimanded? Of course I wouldn't mention dates, but still wouldn't want the crew to be in any way compromised by the TR.

(Not sexual favours btw )

Personally I think it's part of the fun - write it up! So long as you're discreet about dates and names, I see no reason not to include :)

Agreed. I think its always great to know the really good, good, and not so good points of a flight. If a staff member went above and beyond, I say go for it. Helps communicate the quality of flight experience you had.

As I know sort of what you’re going to write, thanks to FB status updates, I think it shows the airline in a positive light, even though if everyone had the same treatment it’d be less special, but then again there was a special occasion!!

I'm thinking that as you have already posted your flight details on this forum... Trying to disguise them now is pretty much moot.

We have all had "favours" from FA's over the years. For me personally... I would keep the specifics of them to myself.

I'm sure some members may be interested, but that's what PM's & "drinks" are for. If the "favours" were that awesome a FA may get in trouble... Keep them to yourself, to look after the CSM/FA involved. Having flown EK, F over 30 times to Europe IME you always get more than you expected. (I NEVER purchase duty free alcohol until I am at my destination for obvious reasons)

I've never had a poor EK experience and I wouldn't expect one. Then again I have only ever flown them in F.

From experience (exCSM) if you don't put a date & flight number & your full name on a "Thank you" to Crew, it is HIGHLY unlikely it will be passed onto them. Unfortunately too many Crew wishing for promotions have friends & family send in annon letters... so IMHO send in a great Thank you letter, put your name & FF number on it and maybe go easy on describing the exact "favors" ;)

I think given all the negatives we hear, some positive ones would be nice for a change. And we all know QF FA's get almost get away with murder, so they're probably safe!

Points for trying!

I say for the TR, write about the 'favours' but leave the names & flight dates out.

I say contact EK and tell them about your amazing experience and hour the crew on your specific flight went above and beyond but without saying exactly what they gave you etc. eg. very attentive, always willing to assist etc etc I'm sure that you know what I'm trying to get at.

I have never had crew do anything that I would consider would get them into trouble so I am unsure about the type of favours you are getting.

Although (and I have yet to write up the report) I do think that some of the crew on my flight with babygr went beyond the call of duty :)

As I can not see crew doing anything illegal I would include the extras as it will show the reader why you consider it a good flight.

It is always the little extras that make a flight great.

Depends on the "Favours", however I've had FA's go the extra mile, I've no problems in writing up the details in a trip report, furthermore I would be giving the good feedback to the airline.

The quickest I have ever received a response (and it was a real response from an actual person) from any company was after I sent in a complement via feedback where I also gave the date, flight number and FA's name.

To put it simply, they where delighted to receive it and where going to pass the praise onto the FA and his manager.

Let's face it, if we praise the airlines for the good things it will encourage the airlines to continue doing the good things.

I guess the sort of thing you are referencing is maybe handing out "spare" bottles of champagne at the end of a flight? QF may not look too kindly on that...

I do recall though when we boarded a 743 AKL-LAX The CSM was apologetic about the carp seats and said he would have given us a bottle of wine as compensation (some pax were outraged but I knew it was coming so didnt stress) but could as we were all checked through in the US and wouldnt be able to get the wine through security...

The best I have had is 4 bottles of Dom Perignon (2 each for myself & my partner) from a favourite airline of mine. I would say I would get a freebie at least 1/2 the time I fly. I have also had traveling companions given onboard upgrades.

I would not ever mention specific flights or airlines on a public forum in case it caused anyone any trouble.

However, haydensydney... I am very pleased you received some extra, "over and above" your expectation. It is ALWAYS welcome and if it was a special occasion then I'm sure it was even more appreciated by both you and your partner.

Emirates F is always a great way to travel. Even on short hops it is worth the money.

Was this AA?
Certainly i had 1 occasion i mentioned here when grandson was taken into the coughpit of an AA 757 on the ground in MIA when a delay.I checked with a ground agent after the flight to make sure the staff would not be in trouble, when assured not i emailed AA-had the name of the FA who organised it and the captains name.Got an email back from AA within 6 hours and one from the FA within 24 hours-she was very grateful.
After that I reported my experiences in my TR here(with date and flight number).

I've also done this with QF and I get a nice thank-you for your feedback phone call. I figure that in customer service, if someone goes the extra mile, they should be praised. As I'm sure that most feedback is negative.

No it was QF... It was meant to be Y+, but the service I got on that flight, especially from one FA in particular was superior to even the best service I've ever had in J (whilst I haven't flown F, it was the type of attention to detail I would have expected from an F FA, not a Y+ FA.).

It wasn't that I was special either, he was extremely attentive to everyone.

I've had a similar experience in Y+ - an A380 from SYD-LAX.

Constant attention throughout the flight. I'd just finish my drink, and the FA would be there to refill it and ask if I wanted anything else (snack/etc). He was truly awesome.

It put the return flight to shame (744 in J) - the crew disappeared after serving supper and weren't to be found until breakfast was served in the morning.

After that experience, I now have 4 more Y+ flights coming up (SYD-BKK return and SYD-LAX return). I hope they're just as good :)

Anyway, back to the topic. I've never actually done a TR, but if I did and the crew did something that might see them reprimanded I would omit it (I use my real name on forums, so it wouldn't be difficult for someone to link that back to the flight).

I noticed you always wrote crew with a Capital C. Perhaps you're legit; either way, welcome to AFF!

Notwithstanding, your advice is sound. I'm always worried when asked to complete inflight feedback that they always can guess anyway whether I'm happy or not; hence pocket the negative ones and file the positive ones. Not very representative...

Send a positive letter/ mail with specifics of why you appreciated the person; not the favours . As for the TR, do whatever you like, considering details may harm the person you're trying to praise.
