The new blog system looks good, but I suspect the latest outbreak of World of Warcraft entries may be a mistake.

Brand new member, 0 posts and 12 blogs? Spam or a genuine mistake..?

Maybe Blogs should be reserved for members with established credentials or who have served a waiting period?

Me thoughts are:
  • It's blog space that was never mandated to be connected to air travel or this site, i.e. poor "regulation"
  • Someone's looking for the least intrusive, free of charge blog space and found this.
  • How did they get so much of that info up into blog space so quickly? Unless, as some say, it was done by a robot.

That blog was clearly spam. The blog was deleted and the "blogger" banned.

In future, could you please Report a Blog post which you think breaks our general rules - commercial (such as spam), offensive, vulgar - in the same way as you would report an offending post.

I'll be investigating how this spammer managed to post so much in such a short time. I guess these teething problems are to be expected. :(

I would go with this sort of an idea too, maybe less posts than you need to post a URL, but as some new members have posted blogs asking questions only to be told to start a thread, I think if you can’t stress blogs aren’t about asking questions, then new members shouldn’t be able to post a blog until they’ve at least discovered the forums.
