Situation: My parents and I will leave BKK on the same day in May, different flights though. They'll depart for SGN with AF (leaving around 1pm) whilst I'll be on QF1 to LHR (mid-night flight, as you know).

As I don't want to get back to the city after seeing them off, I am thinking of checking in my bags in the afternoon and working in the QF lounge, which is open from 1pm, till the evening (ugh).

Question: Do you think it's possible for me to check in so early like that, noting QF 1 won't leave BKK till past mid-night? I can't find any info on the QF site, hence thanks muchly for your help/info. :)

Ta ta,
Voyages.

From my experience QF/BA flights in BKK have a strict 3 hour check-in policy.

In fact most airlines I have flown from BKK have the 3 hour check-in limit. I do not remember a check-in facility at BKK similar to SATS in SIN.

Thanks for the insight, JohnK.

My parents are re-considering their trip to BKK due to the current security concerns :(

As I said earlier I would not worry about any internal strife in Thailand. I have been there many times and people in one city have no idea what is happening in another city. But that is neither here nor there.

Perhaps the situation will settle down by the time of your parent's trip. I am due back in June and the political situation does not concern me.

Ditto for that. Some of the friendliest people in the world. Do not let it stop your parents going. C.M.

24 hours beforehand using OLCI ...

... however you won't be able to bag drop until physical check-in opens.

Note that you may be able to employ the counters for QF2 to SYD which open around 2:30pm.
