Paging those who've done this recently...

I am trying to make a booking for my parents out of SIN on qantas.com.sg with my Oz credit card. I was just wondering if there's any need to physically visit the SIN office to sign a form or for them to show the same credit card upon check in at SIN?

The website says nothing about this and I have got as far as the payment stage without noticing any such notifications. I thought I'd check to be sure... but the phone agents are giving conflicting info.

TIA for any advice. :)

Early last year booked over QF sg website ex-SIN with AUS CC, and travelled in Aug, no problems. But CC things can change in 12 months.

I booked Qantas ex sin in October 2009 for travel in January 2010.

I have once been asked to show credit card ex SIN on SQ but not this time.

I booked with QF ex-SIN two weeks ago for travel in April. There was no information stating credit card verification was required or anything like that.

As a further backup, you can fax a letter to your parents that states something along the lines of "I, QF009, am the holder of CC ending with xx_X and paid for the tickets of Mr and Mrs QF009 Snr for SIN - xx_ on XX/04/2010"

This is just in case they end up with an agent having a bad day, who ends up making a big deal about not showing the CC used to make the booking.

Saying that, I have never had any airline ask me to show the CC, even when websites have said that I need to show CC used while making booking.

I have done a couple of bookings, and they used to have a comment about presenting the credit card at check-in, but they never asked. A more recent booking doesn't have that requirement in it at all.

I booked directly ex Singapore in November and had no problems.

I understand that this is only an issue for bookings close to travel. If you book and pay over a month in advance there shouldn't be an issue - after all, airline has been paid, there is a ticket number and chances are cardholder has also been billed (and paid if they are a pay the credit bard account in full each month type person).

I have booked exSIN off and on for the last five years with both AU and US credit cards with no problems. (Well the exchange rates could have been better  and I really do need a CC with no foreign charge surcharge )

Booking flights exHKG will cause the message about showing CC appear. Didn't happen but YMMV

Alas now looking for tickets that probably can't be booked online

No issues booking ex-SIN for SIN-AUS-SIN flights. Booked about half a dozen such flights in the past few months.

I think the shortest period prior to travel was about 5-6 days. An an aside, it's the first time I've had to use the WP benefit (economy seat purchase) to get onto a fully booked QF6.

I think I have only ever seen the message about requiring to present the credit card in person for bookings on the QF Thailand website.

Interesting I have been asked a couple of times to present the credit card that I used to make the booking. As it does not happen that often there is no need to be concerned and I do use the same credit card all the time.

Well, I have gone ahead and paid for the flights which have now been ticketed. At no stage has any warning message about CC verification shown up. I rang up QF again, spoke to an agent who seemed to have more of a clue and affirmed that all's good. Just to be safe I followed MrHyde's advice and have emailed my parents a letter to take with them to check in confirming that I did authorise and paid for their flights.

Just made a booking on the QF SIN website and did not have any issues at all. Even got the seats I wanted. ;)

Sorry to bump the thread - have been looking into booking a one way flight from BKK-MEL, but the QF Asia site comes up with the following warning:

Going to give QF a call later, but does anyone know if going to a local QF office can suffice for this purpose?

After you have made the booking, just give QF a call and they can verify and get your flight issued. I have done this in the past as I often book return legs liek BKK-MEL rtn and a MEL-BKK rtn on differnet bookings so Ic an access the cheaper flights from Aisa.

Could nto believe last week I booked SIN-MEL rtn for basically 3800 AUD but to do it the other way is costing $7500 AUD if you book a full J fare, not D or I.
