What cheeses me off

I’ve whinged before about my arrival or departing gates, being at far ends in large airports.

Hello, Istanbul Airport and gate B 15, with the business lounge exit being on the right-hand end of the core complex. 😡 check in to lounge to gate 1.7 km

We did 12000 steps transiting Istanbul from Bali then arrival into CDG. There are extra security measures for indo arrivals that don’t occur with Europe departures. And only 30 minutes gate lounge announcements.

Older pillows used to be fine with just one but since COVID I have given up my practice of throwing one pillow on the floor as 2 pillows are the same height with my head on them as one of the old pillows.
But they end up paper thin during the night and this lump at the bedhead. Anyways the lounge cushion sorted it and the room attendant worked it out and gave me a third pillowslip for it.

WCMO is getting a great arrival run through Athens International Airport, then going over to the metro and missing the departing train by 30 seconds. Then 40 minute wait to the next one. 😡

Then at the station in the city I arrived at, the ticket wouldn’t operate the exit gates. I tracked someone down and apparently I hadn’t validated my ticket. Validate? I bought a ticket at a counter, walked five metres, put it on the entry gates and went through. What is there to validate?

Maybe stop dropping into all the Louis Vuitton stores along the way😂😂😂

How do you cope with really hard beds?
The hotel we've been in this week, I was really looking forward to a good sleep as I've always found their beds to be really good. But this one was awful 😭 shoulders and hips have been agony every night and I haven't been able to find a comfy spot. I'll be glad to be back in my own bed tonight.

Badly. I ALSO carry a lightweight air mattress for those occasions. I figure that if I’m going to have a checked bag, I might as well bring the kitchen sink. 😎
Do you take any clothes? Asking for a friend. Hard mattresses I can deal with until my hip gives out. Pillows - no. Wondering if I need to get a soft cover luggage.

Lucky…my understanding is that if you don’t validate your ticket it is akin to fare evasion and inspectors give no leniency to tourists.

But think of the health benefits of the extra walking.

After eating the baklava in the lounge I’m always grateful for it!

Local shops, the parking lot has many spaces, the strip in front of the bakery/cafe is a no parking zone.

This morning a huge 4x4 sporting L's stops there, older male gets out and enters the bakery/cafe. Young girl in the drivers seat stays in the vehicle with the engine running.

Not a very good way for a learner driver to be instructed, imho, many people do park there, probably saves a 10-15 metre walk.

Yes, I am getting old, and crotchety and irritable. :)

Whilst I'm at it, another thing that pee's me off is drivers with L's under instruction driving in the right hand lane, even with signs stating to keep left. :(

Meaningless warranties:

Microwave stopped heating, but otherwise still runs - lights, beeps, timers, turntable - so the Magnetron isthe problem
6 years old but it had a 10 year parts only warranty on the Magnetron

The exact same model is still sold at $320 ($70 cheaper than 6 years ago)
Now If I were to make a claim, i would likely get a free Magnetron replacement.
Now what would be the labour cost. Lets say it is $200.

Or just buy a new one at ticket price of $320 at Harvey. I might be able to twist their arm to give it to me for $300.

$200 would mean waiting maybe a week or so for parts for repair and I would likely have to bring it back to Harvey and the rest of the microwave is still 6 years old
Or just pay circa $300 for a new one.

Nah. Throw it away and just buy a new one in Black Friday sales .

Possibly I could have got a bit more off or discounted extended warranty
That "extended warranty" really isn't it - you get warranty for the reasonable life of the product already built in.

The services you purchase on top from Harveys, JB Hifi, The Good Guys etc. are just nice things to have, of which one of them may well be that within a certain period of the life of the product, if something does go wrong, you might be able to get the product swapped out for a new one nearly straight away (the alternative is potentially the rigmarole that you have described, and that's if Harveys help you out as opposed to just sending you back to the manufacturer).
