Qantas to move to new Perth Airport terminal, expand Perth hub

Qantas still sounding pretty bullish on Perth-Asia A321XLR flights in the future, esp India

I find this comment by a QF spokesperson hilarious considering that the shift to T1 and consequent airport redevelopment has been held up for years by QF and only by QF.

“We’re pretty motivated and encouraged with what Perth can be when the airport redevelopment comes to life.”

See several posts up thread.

Changes at the top on BOTH sides saw common sense prevail.

When it finally happens, PER could well be one of the best airports in Oz.

Are there plans to make the walk between the terminal and car park undercover? Even the current situation at T1 means getting out of the building to the pick-up area means getting wet if it's raining. Really stupid design.
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Can't even get them to do grade separation.
It's ridiculous that cars and pedestrians have to compete for access.
At both T1 and T3/4.

Only problem is both arrivals and departures is ground level. So even if they're smart enough to sign post it well and install sufficient elevators, it still means lift up to level one, across the bridge and lift back down to ground level. Well done PER airport, well done!

Although as soon as you check in you have to go up a floor and then go back down again to the aircraft.
If check in was on the first floor they could separate cars for arrivals from cars for departures and instantly double the space available.
As well as improving pedestrian access.
But those of us who live in Perth know better than to expect well thought out facilities.
Instead the massive revenue from mining is spent on gigantic but poorly conceived infrastructure.
And traffic lights and speed bumps. So many traffic lights. So many speed bumps.
And tiny roundabouts where they are neither necessary nor useful.
Anywhere a roundabout would actually be useful, there are traffic lights.
We even have traffic lights on roundabouts here!
