SydSquad live again for the first Intl arrival (NZ) this morning.
Could it just be that now the inaugural flight is done, JQ needs to get back to regular operations?Anyone know what’s responsible for delaying JQ373? Sitting in the terminal looking at the bird
Yes, on most flights between NZ and AU they do with very few exceptions where the aircraft overnights in an AU port or Perth. Typically the A320s fly 2 round trips per day (so 4 flights total) the crew will only operate a single round trip.I assume NZ crew these as same day returns?
I gather some planes overnight in NZ rather than Aus?Yes, on most flights between NZ and AU they do with very few exceptions where the aircraft overnights in an AU port or Perth. Typically the A320s fly 2 round trips per day (so 4 flights total) the crew will only operate a single round trip.
Most of Air NZs narrow body fleet overnight in NZ. Leave NZ around 6am and get to AU around 7-8am, leave AU around 9am and get to NZ around 2pm, leave NZ around 4pm, get to AU around 5-6pm, finally leaving AU around 7pm and getting to NZ at midnight.I gather some planes overnight in NZ rather than Aus?
And an idiot from KiwilandJulie Lundmark, from Sweden, headed to Melbourne for the weekend from Sydney Airport but was surprised to discover her return flight landed at the brand new Western Sydney International Airport (WSI). The airport, which has been decades in the making, began operating passenger flights on Sunday. Ms Lundmark and her friend were on Jetstar flight JQ373 when they realised the mistake.

"The funny thing is we googled because we didn't recognise the name 'west airport' that was on the boarding pass, and we googled it and it took us to the normal Sydney airport.
When QR Qatar start operating to WSI expect more stories like this.<snip>
One man who disembarked flight NZ165 from Auckland said he thought he was travelling to Western Australia. "I got confused, I saw Western Sydney," he said. "I thought it was Western Australia, and I'm meant to be in Perth, but look, it's still pretty fun, so we'll make the best of it. "I realised by the time I got on the flight that that's not where it was going, but we'll figure it out.

Same with QF. Usually a NZ based cabin crew and they do a NZ-AU-NZ trip.I gather some planes overnight in NZ rather than Aus?
And do the runs from there in the am. And arrive late night NZ time before Rinse and repeat

Plenty of people end up in Austria in a similar way...From link above
Sydney's new status as a two-airport city is already causing confusion for some travellers.![]()
Passenger says 'double check' after landing at wrong Sydney airport
Some passengers were unaware their flights were to Western Sydney International Airport.www.abc.net.au
And an idiot from Kiwiland

May get some with FJ with passengers who go to the wrong airport to board a flight to Fiji

Some people either living under a rock or obviously just “challenged” by travel planning.
Well Qantas is charging $1799 Friday morning 6am Mel to syd .
Believe it or not - did this exact routing in 2018 .. had to visit friends in SYD and QF MEL-AKL-SYD was $700-ish cheaper than MEL-SYD. Love such flightsFlying via Auckland will save you $700:
Especially given the European traveller would be used to the concept of multiple airports in one city. I don’t see the media making a big song and dance about flights to “London” Southend Airport. Some people either living under a rock or obviously just “challenged” by travel planning.
