Reduction in Amex lounge benefits

Some staff would encourage using a card with a pass rather than an unlimited card if they saw you had both because they would earn more from the visit, haha.

No idea who would waste a limited pass instead of an unlimited pass under any circumstance.

If you have both and had no plans to change cards it really makes no difference, as the passes would expire anyway if you always used the unlimited one. Haven't seen the staff doing this for a very long time though.

If the volume of entries decreases, you could see PPL asking Amex for an increased baseline fee at the next round of negotiations in which case Amex hasn't saved any money.

I already have an existing Priority Pass membership as an additional Plat cardholder, and when I log into my Priority Pass account now it shows this as expiring in 2029. Does anyone know if this is supposed to stop working from 1 October, or can you just no longer add a new PP membership for an additional cardholder at this point (i.e. existing memberships will remain valid until their natural expiry)?

Good question. I got both a letter and an email reminder that as a supplementary card holder my PP was no longer active from 1 October. Haven’t had an opportunity to try it out since then. I don’t even think i have a PP profile or log in

My brother has/had PP via my supp Amex. In the app his membership shows valid till March 2029. No issues entering PP lounges in DXB today.

At the beginning of August, my Amex based PP membership showed an expiry in 2028.

It now shows as expired ...

Checked my supplementary Priority Pass card holder today and still have access. Must be pretty hit and miss.

He just passed back through DXB and was denied PP lounge access. Machine showed an error due to expired card. App still showed card valid till 2029.

My wife's PP account is also showing expired in the app. I also heard anecdotally from a colleague that both his and his wife's accounts (they both hold a plat card and are supps of each other) shows expired. Definitely sounds like a hit and miss based on experiences in this thread - perhaps some locations has not yet received updated software?

Need it next week for Fiji as we have 4 hours at the airport and the general waiting area is not fun!

All my other upcoming flights, we are in J, so paying $99 USD plus $35 x 2 for one trip is a bit much.

Guess we'll fork out $200 AUD for 2 people to enter the lounge.

I know, but we are arriving from another island at 12 and the VA flight leaves at 5pm

We have decided to spend 2 hours at the Port for lunch/last min shops and then get the airport just on 2 hours before so will leave around 1 hour before boarding.

The +1 said she would rather spend the $200 on other things and not the lounge
