The Qantas Status Run Master Thread

Must be the only one world airline that does that! 🫣
It's a measure they adopted when they were on the brink of insolvency after COVID and the 1MDB scandal.
Along with no alcohol on flights less than 3 hours, which I understand has since been relaxed for international flights.

Hi All,
First time doing a status challenge and looking for some guidance on an efficient status run out of Melbourne.
Target: 200 Status Credits (Qantas Gold Challenge)
Origin: Melbourne (MEL)
Budget / Issue: Most itineraries I've looked at are pricing near $2k, which feels excessive.
Questions:
Do Double Status Credit (DSC) promo credits count toward status challenge targets, or strictly base SCs?
What are the best/cheapest routing options out of MEL right now to hit 200 SCs economically? Open to domestic connections or trans-Tasman.
Appreciate any insights or route suggestions!
Cheers

Round trip to Townsville in business class via Sydney/Brisbane gets you 200 SC for $1360 (400 SC if on double SC). For maximum efficiency, it can be done as a day trip.
