I have been following QR reward seat availability for a while, specifically with late August 2027 in mind. Between MEL and DOH the picture below has not changed regardless of the typical 330 day booking window....business class availability just stops on August 12th...has been the same date for weeks now. Economy rewards are available at 330 days out. Business class rewards between DOH and Europe are available at 330 days out. But Australia to DOH...nothing...or incredibly sporadic seats here and there.

I have alerts set up in Gyoza and have received nothing...I've also done the classic checking at midnight thing....nothing...so I'm pretty confident it is not just a case of they were snapped up already.

Any clues? Seen this pattern before?

It’s a velocity issue… seats are available via Aeroplan on the VA service, non-stop, from both MEL and SYD for 13 and 14 August (and presumably onwards, i didn’t check more dates).

Maybe the call centre can help?

August 12 until the 6th or 7th Sept is the peak period for Qatar, flights through PC are all at 20% premium or 2x Avios. These won’t show up on VA for as long as they are defined as “peak” by QR.

I was looking at booking for the last week of August on QR PC but no go, had to shift my plans to September and ended up booking J to CDG in the second week of September a few weeks back.

But… this… is a Virgin flight 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah I was just referring to why the QR flights are not showing up, obviously the VA coded flights are different but there will still be an issue finding flights from DOH onward if a lot of destinations are marked as "peak" and not bookable with VA.

I know what you meant… the thing is that these are supposedly virgin flights, with VA rules, and it should be VA availability…. but we all know these are actually QR flights just by another name. So QR rules rule.
