I have decided to part company with my current employer.
They refuse to make any reasonable accommodation to allow me to spend more than four weeks each year with my partner, who lives in Paris.
The final straw was when they refused to allow me to take leave in advance or even unpaid leave to travel for our wedding!

So if anyone needs a contract professional with legal qualifications and over 20 years' experience, give me a shout.

Maybe research some of the French multi-Nationals operating in WA?

All the best for forthcoming wedding

So after the wedding where will you both be living?

Companies are not charities,. But more are amenable to remote working.

I don’t know now. We were expecting to continue living apart for a while.
I never asked for charity. Only for one week unpaid leave. Considering I’d just closed out a $137 million contract that didn’t seem unreasonable.

In all seriousness, if anyone is aware of any opportunities, ask me for my résumé.
For the first time in my life, I jumped without a parachute, and the fall is a bit scary.

consider the public service! Seriously!

The pay is not as high, but generous leave, plus options for leave with half pay, and buying extra leave (you work 52 weeks, but get paid pro-rata for 50, then you get 6 weeks leave… all still paid!)

And of course it’s strictly 9-5.

An update.
I tried to give notice of my intention to resign as of 1 December and was forced to leave immediately.
A complication.
One of the reasons for the wedding plans was to allow me to access public healthcare in France.
I have a rare form of cancer for which advanced treatment is unavailable in Australia.
But now those plans have been thrown into disarray.

Have you tried labour hire companies?
