Changes to Westpac credit cards from 1 Oct 2026

Westpac have modified their Qantas points offer for the Altitude Black card now that we're into 1st October. The bonus points haven't changed, but they have added in 50SC if you spend the $6k in 90 days.
I wonder if that will flow into the St George Amplify Signature card as well. They seem to be the same in every other way (except Visa v MC)

I don't understand why the banks have devalued card rewards midnight 30Sept when it is the merchants that are covering the cost of their fees?

I suspect they've mostly used the changes as a scapegoat, assuming consumers would be more likely to accept it if they could point the blame at something.

They've gradually devalued their programs many times before this.

It could, but hasn't yet. I suspect that this is a temporary offer by Qantas to encourage people to choose the Altitude Qantas card vs Altitude Velocity, as the points offers are identical. The Velocity version has a couple of Economy X vouchers.
