Europe EES queue?

That’s horrific. I read that a number of countries had turned the system off after the deadline, was hoping to read stories of whizzing through. I’ve got Munich in a few weeks, I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

This morning at 9.45am went straight through at FCO off AA236 ex JFK on an NZ passport. There were other large groups but don't know why they seemed so slow.

Departed MAD T4 earlier today, two step process:
1. Queued for kiosks before train to T4S, scanned PP and directed to go to eGates (seemed like a totally redundant step).
2. Take train to T4S and join lines for eGates but directed to a line for manual processing….
In hindsight, it might have been quicker.

3. Rejoin eGate line. Those machines are sooo slow. They’re probably operating on HW ordered when EES was first announced but the IT kiddies have bloated the SW so now it really needs a Quantum computer to operate correctly…

Hard to say if it’s slower or faster leaving…

I arrived at Frankfurt airport 4.5hrs before my departure time of 930pm yesterday.

I ended up using the Universal automated kiosks as check-in counters wouldn't open till 3hrs before departure.

Using those was good as immigration took 1hr! Basically 1 guy only!

Had some time to relax in the lounge otherwise I'd be stressing

Lots of people jumping the Q as they were really late for their flight which then cause more delays lol

We entered via Helsinki from Doha last month even though it was only a change of planes before flying on to Stockholm. Our plane was quite late in so we were rushing to our gate for the onward flight. Turned out we were the only ones who had to do the EES manually with our own agent and he took his sweet damn time, must have known we were in a hurry. Security also buggered us around searching everything before we finally got to our gate to see "flight closed" and our plane backing out... Three hour wait for the next flight. Not the start I wanted.
Wasn't helped by the fact we'd spent an hour between 'boarding' (going through a gate to a bus) and takeoff in Doha.

Fortunate then that you were rebooked automatically?

I’d read that “protected” itineraries weren’t necessary protecting PAX if delayed by EES!

Yes it was the delay of the Qatar flight leaving Doha that really caused us to miss it. Would have been very line ball even if the guy rushed us through.
